Scourge of Armagon in Dark Places. I fall through floor when starting new game.
I dunno if anyone can help but I tried installing Quake MIssion Pack 1 - Scourge of Armagon and playing it through Dark Places. The mission pack runs fine in Dosbox, but when I try to use Dark Places and start a new game I immediately fall through the floor of the starting area and go tumbling out of the map.

So next I tried a fresh install using a clean copy of Quake and copied over the HIPNOTIC folder. This time I didn't fall through the floor, but began the game stuck in the lift mechanism that's supposed to raise.

If I use noclip to free myself, I can explore the starting room, but the teleporters that you go through to begin the game proper do not work. Also some of the objects such as hanging bodies, torches etc. are not placed correctly and are just floating in the air.

I'm trying to play the game by just making a shortcut to darkplaces.exe and adding '-game hipnotic' to the command line. I have not experienced any issues with vanilla Quake,

Would be grateful if anyone could help, thank you.

You could try quakespasm instead as your source port, might have better luck with that.

That's weird, but if I recall correctly, doesn't Darkplaces use some kind of physics or animation interpolation? Could this be warping you through the floor? I'm sure Quakespasm would work as BadMojo said.

I'm not sure about the physics, darkplaces used to be my goto source port, but as of late it doesn't seem to be as smooth as it used to and the HUD stretches on wide-screen, it never used to do that. I'm not surprised we've run into some more issues with it.
