Clearly they didn't care to make this a proper release.
First Quake has some form of auto aim on by default so this is a "yes" - the game can be played with only a keyboard too.
Now Quake World, yeah, that isn't really gonna work well.
You can merge your non-steam one to play it with Steam and record your game time, there's no reason not to do that except if you like how the look of a 1996 game is on a screen 10 times larger.
The steam version is basically just functional and nothing else, they did absolutely nothing and they actually are kind of stealing users money selling an uncomplete product - the soundtrack is not included, that's not normal, and nobody ever gave a ♥♥♥♥ about that, not to mention it's nowhere mentionned on the store's page. Disgusting.
