Quake
What is Quake 64 exactly?
Is it like a better looking version of Quake that was released on the N64?

Native dynamic coloured lighting, better than PC software colour depth, far worse textures, altered level design & enemy placement for occlusion culling purposes due to limited memory, lower quality sound, music that's basically live looped/mixed samples instead of the Nine Inch Nails OST.

From what I can gather by reading the entry on the "Addons" menu, it's the N64 port, which is similar to the original, but has the level architecture slightly modified to fit the hardware, as well as colored lighting and a new soundtrack by Aubrey Hodges (the composer for Doom 64 and Playstation Doom)

It's also got a god awful n64like blur over everything, would be nice to mod that out and just play with different level geometry

I think you can disable this by setting r_crtmode 0 in the console.
And if you want pixelated textures back, just set Texture Smoothing in options to OFF.
It's basically a downgraded version for N64. Watch this video from 41:16.

I liked the new soundtrack though, been using it for Arcane Dimensions.
Fyi: it appears to use the actual N64 textures, so even with texture smoothing off, the textures don't look like the unfiltered PC Quake textures.

I think that's part of the mod - the CRT screen filter, and the tri-point texture filtering is intentional to imitate the look of playing it on N64. I wish it could be configured though - like boosting the internal render resolution behind the CRT shader to get some "what if N64 240p - but supersampled?" in there.
It's just the N64 version of Quake, which was similar for the most part except some levels were altered, colored lighting, and alternate soundtrack by Aubrey Hodges (same guy who did the Doom PS1 and Doom 64 soundtracks).

I'd compare it to the PS1 version of Doom. Similar experiences, just with enough differences to make it stand out.
The Nintendo 64 version of Quake ported over as an addon.

The N64 version also used different textures (compressed to fit on an N64 ROM cartridge), which this mod/port appears to inherit.

This did the trick. Thank you.
