As of today I can't get quake enhanced to run, even after uninstaling and reinstaling

As of today when I try to run the rerelease for QUake. It is nolonger starting. the originals start but I can't get the rerelease to run anymore. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the rerelease is no longer starting anymore.

can your gpu even run quake remastered? because if it's one of those dogsh*t intel hd graphics solutions on a dogsh*t laptop. you're probably not gonna be able to run it unless it atleast supports dx10.

Go here and delete the "kexengine.cfg"

C:\Users\*****\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\Quake


Even when you delete and reinstall the game, your old config file is still that which can cause issues. So blow it away and try to launch the game, a new config file will be created.

I have a Ryzen 9 3900x and a liguid cooled GTX1080. It was working fine until today. Now it no longer starts at all.

try deleting your configs like crafty already mentioned. didn't realize it's one of those that makes new folders in your /user folder.

My idea would be to manually delete any leftover files in the "rerelease" folder after uninstalling through steam and/or deleting "kexengine.cfg" in C:\Users\YourName\Saved Games\Nightdive Studios\Quake. Maybe some manually installed mods that don't get uninstalled through steam or some ingame console commands that you tested broke something? Yeah what Crafty said... Being slow here.

I had a similar issue, the game would launch, then just after the splash screens I would get kicked out. I tried uninstalling, deleting the remnants from my PC and then reinstalling, it worked... for about 2 launches and the same happened again, so I have uninstalled and am playing on my PS5. The controller handicap is actually making the single player more fun for me as I have played Quake to death over the years! Hope they fix whatever is causing this as it's a pain to have to delete files every couple of launches :(

You have to launch it a couple times to get it to work. Let the first logo screen to pass then start hitting enter or esc. Once you get in the game hit "~" key and type g_showintromovie 0 press enter.

Now I am SOL. Whenever I try to play when I press mouse 1 it brings up the weapon wheel.and puts the game in slowdown.

The game can no longer be played on my rig. Even after reinstaling firing my weapon brings up the weapon wheel and puts the game in slow motion. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work at all.

I didn't even HAVE the cfg file, so I deleted the entire folder. still nothing. Won't launch, no error notification or anything.

Maybe you just accidentally bound the attack key to weapon wheel too?

I did this on purpose to show what can happen ;-). I think it's an oversight in the engine.
