Yes. Go to console (` or ~) and type

bind <key> "impulse <#>"

impulse 1 - axe
2 - shotgun
3 - super shotgun
4 - nailgun
5 - super nailgun
6 - grenade launcher
7 - rocket launcher
8 - thunderbolt

e.g.

bind e "impulse 6"

binds grenade launcher to e

to fire it off is a bit trickier, I think you can do something like "bind e 'impulse 6;wait;+attack;wait;-attack'" although this may end up being clumsy. Some console elites could probably clarify

Now that I think about it, I guess this could just be set in the menu haha, but am I proactive enough to actually check?

no

no

At least in QuakeSpasm you can't set individual weapons in the menus. I think you can in DirectQ, but obviously you're better off using the console anyway.

just starting playing through quake mission pack 1. to bind the 9th weapon, instead of impulse 9 its impulse 225. leaving this in case someone comes looking for the same info

I play this game on nightmare difficulty using the keyboard only and with no crosshair.
That's how good I am.

hey guys, you can alternatively go to the games file
"program file(x86)" "steam" "steamapps" "common" "quake"
in the folder Quake there is two subfolder, Docs and ld1
go to ld1 and open "config" using notepad, then you can from here you should be able to hotkey the weapons you want, but it cannot be a capital letter so for example if you want to assign E for the super shotgun it must be "e" and not "E".

What about the other weapons? There are more than 1.

The other weapons from the mission packs share bindings with the ones from the base game.

Nope, you are better off using the "autoexec.cfg", rather than the console, but I am uncertain how it goes in the new Kex-Quake.

The console didn't work for me at all the last time I checked.

OK. Now it works.... :/

But Q can't be bound. That silly wheel always sticks bound.

Thanks that command even works.

It's annoying how crude Quake is. I get no info that it wasn't bound. And why do I even need this command? I just could rebind others. But. No. You need yet another command like an idiot...
