I personally always expect to have to do some personal adjustment when buying old games, especially from Steam.
Yeah, it's expected nowadays. I still need to get my Deus Ex all fixed up. Felt like playing it one night but realized it needs a lot of work to have it working properly.

Too many younger gamers are lazy. In the DOS days we had to manually configure config.sys and autoexec.bat and often make boot disks to run specific games due to the 640K memory limitation. Getting games to work REQUIRED some work. That, and hardware and operating systems have changed much over the last few decades so it's going to take some effort to get a game that was designed 20+ years ago to work on a modern OS. Micro$haft doesn't care if Windows 10 can run Quake or Wolfenstein 3D. It always falls on the user to figure it out.

You are right ppl are lazy and have other things to do then work to make a 20 yr old game work properly , i guess the sellers of the software follow that path too !

You could take the time you're using to complain about not wanting to take the time to get the music working and actually use that time to get the music working instead.

The way I see it you either want the music to work bad enough that you'll do something about it, or you don't and just want to gripe. Several people here have already tried to help you. If you're not willing to even try then there's nothing more we can do, and I at least have better things to do than to listel to someone just whine about something they're not willing to do anything about. I'm always willing to help other players, but only up to a point. The Qball is on your court now. I will say no more.

WoLFpwr, did you even use my Quake II Patch? Sounds like you ditched it after a false virus warning. Reason I ask is because I'm gonna make one for this Quake as well but not gonna rush to do it if you're not gonna bother using it.

I've uploaded the entire soundtrack including the mission packs if you want every song the game has to offer without having the need to find them.

For listening only: http://www.media_fire.com/file/kkv29glmc3t49id/Quake_%2B_Mission_Pack_1_And_2_Soundtracks_Albums_%2B_Box_Arts.zip

For using in game: http://www.media_fire.com/file/h8oky3neje6t3a7/Quake_%2B_Mission_Pack_One_and_Two_Soundtrack.zip

Make sure you remove the underscore "_" between Mediafire to make the link work properly.

The first download is design to listen only. which means it will not work if you put it in any source port you decide to use it on. Besides not working in a source port, you get proper names for them (Granted fan names from the community) and number labels and box art.

But the other download is for use with any source port that supports .WAV formats. If it doesn't, you can convert .WAV into another format of your choice.

Enjoy.

I've installed Quakespasm and I've downloaded and installed your patch, and I've downloaded the OST and put it in the proper folder. Still I get no music. What am I doing wrong?

Double check in menu that the volume is enabled and the volume slider isn't on minimum.

Also, in console, to test it out you can just type: music track02
