So, basically, go back to Gate of Guidance and get the Holy Grail ASAP.
Just of note, you don't have to alt-f4 to quit the game. If you open up the MSX Laptop, you can scroll over to the last Tab on the laptop menu (Config/9), there is a Reset option. If you select yes, you will be returned to the Title Screen of the game, though you will lose any unsaved progress.
As mentioned above, you're meant to get the Holy Grail before you leave the Guidance Gate. It's an extremely important and useful item, and you should backtrack to go get it ASAP The Holy Grail is essentially your get-out-of-jail-free-card for practically any situation you find yourself in - Stuck in a pit, poison gas, drowning in water/lava, crusher/spike traps, tough sub-boss fights, etc.(It won't save you from getting stuck by lightning though, so do be careful!)
Exception though, you can't use the Holy Grail during any Guardian fight, so be sure you're prepared before using one of those Ankh Jewels. Also, the Holy Grail is sealed in one specific late game area, preventing you from teleporting out of there unless you find the exit or kill a ceretain Guardian. Also, it does "break" during the final boss battle, so if you want to win the game, you're gonna have to hot-foot it out of there the old fashiolned way!
