Apart from frequently checking in on Xelpud and Mulbruk, I'm not sure what the best way of tackling their achievements is.
Anything related to Hell Temple doesn't appear to count toward any of the three achievements, I've noticed.
You see, there's a string of dialouges where she talks about all Mother's children(see the text dump for info), and swaps to new ones as you solve specific puzzles. It's hard to map out which puzzles count exactly, so keep checking. Make sure you finish getting all those final diaouges before finishing the Mantras(the last one talks about Mother not making children since the 5th). After the Mantras, she talks about the ruins crumbing and ends it saying, "will you come for me",
There's also a missable dialouge for Mulbruk.... and you can get it pretty early. Just bathe long enough in hot lava without the Ice Cape, and talk to her.
Turns out I screwed up in getting one of the emails (by forgetting to scan a tablet in Tower of Ruin before translating La Mulanese), so my otherwise full-cast ending is ruined, so... I've got to do another run-through anyway. I'll be sure to stay vigilant about Xelpud and Mulbruk's dialogue this time.
And I only need 12 AA scans to go. Text dump worked great.
Thanks again!
The username just came to me XD Howdie.
I realised what I typed was a little crummy(I was up pretty late XP)
In terms of that emial you get from Xelpud, the wiki is wrong on the method behind getting it. You just gotta make you scan atleast 4-5 tablets in the old laguange before having it translated 100%.
at least I know exactly what scan I'm missing so that achievement is basically done on my next playthrough, but does anyone have any ideas on more commonly missed or hard to get xelpud and mulburk talks?
As for Xelpud. Check the textdump. His are pretty standard.
Good thing I had an earlier save. Went and got the Serpent's Staff again and e-mail #44 came immediately.
Edit: Also... I'm pretty sure I narrowed down my last xelpud dialogue to just a few.. anyone want to tell me how I can get the following to check?:
"Oh good, you're still alive. What do you think, ain't the La-Mulana ruins huge? Many have gone in and never come back, but still there are lotsa areas that no one has ever entered. "
"Our race has continued to protect the ruins, following the teachings of the Four Philosophers that sleep within the ruins. The Four Philosophers realized the Mother's wish to return to the skies was not possible. Instead they hope to give her a peaceful death. This is the conclusion that we, the seventh children, at last settled on. It's sad, but we gotta entrust this task to you, the eighth children. I guess it just goes to show... that children will someday leave their parents. Your father was after the Mother's crystallized spirit, the Secret Treasure of Life. I hope that you can obtain it in your father's place. You wanna hear that again? "
thanks
"But the Mother has not been creating children on her own since the fifth children. Maybe her powers are weakening. Or maybe she can make other children. Will everything end once she is defeated, and the ruins sealed? Mulbruk scared."
No idea about Xelpud.
My current question concerns what appears to be duplicates in the text dump, like what appears to be two versions of Xelpud's dialogue after getting the diary (one version includes "invincible old man" and one doesn't). There are also two versions of the bat curry dialogue, which is prompted when you hurry back to him after getting email 18. Is that one affected by how FAST you hurry back?
My guess with the two versions of the dialog after getting the diary is that it depends on whether you go into his tent with the diary equipped.
Xelpud also tells you not to use the Lamp of Time in front of him, so it's possible that the dialog is affected by that.
Or maybe you can actually get the diary without his help?
I was unsuccessful getting the "Hey! I told you in my e-mail to hurry back!" bat curry dialogue. I tried waiting outside of Xelpud's hut for ~30 minutes -- one attempt having read the e-mail and another not; I also tried moving on with the game, killing a few guardians and checking back after each one. When the achievement triggered, this dialogue was still on my checklist. It's possible that I obtained it in a previous run, though; I don't remember. The other alternative is that it was removed from the game, but I don't have any basis for that.
Any thoughts on this:
"Noo~! The ruins are crumbling. It's caving in. Mulbruk getting out of here... Mulbruk's room leads outside... Hmmph..."
Is it just random sleep babble?
Since you've finished the Xelpud achievement, do you know how to get the two talks that I posted in my last post?:
"Oh good, you're still alive. What do you think, ain't the La-Mulana ruins huge? Many have gone in and never come back, but still there are lotsa areas that no one has ever entered. "
