Tiamat strategy
What's a strategy for beating Tiamat with taking minimal damage?

I can beat all of the other bosses now with taking little to no damage, but against Tiamat I've yet to find a way to consistently dodge the small green lasers and the purple shots, which keeps me from finishing the Time Attack. (The best I've come up with so far is just to use caltrops constantly to take damage and use the immunity period to avoid the green lasers).

As for the purple breast-lasers, opening the shield , standing to the side, and whipping with the spaulder would gaurantee no hits, until the small green lasers are taken into consideration. As for those, you need to watch all eight hair loops, then guide the laser astray before it fires.

Which is very hard to do. She is the farthest I've made it too. There is a strategy where you start on the side then blow yourself into her using a bomb and begin to spam the whip, but I haven't mastered that, and to do that you need to have enough health four hits from the bombs.

Someone out there has done the fight without taking any damage, period. To prove that it's possible. Introducing one of my friends and current La-Mulana Any% and All Characters ending WR holder, HiddenDistance.

Of course it was him....
That was a nearly perfect strategy, though.

For the record, that took him 1:27:49 (from the moment he broke the ankh to the moment the obliterated screen comes up) and 91 tries (90 deaths), using the Flail Whip, Lonely House Moving/La Mulana combo and a lot of flares.

It's still stupidly rediculous to beat Endless on Expert.

Has anyone beaten Endless on Expert? I don't see how it's possible since you don't even have the double jump which is required for certain fights. Unless you get the powerup at some point in between battles.

Even assuming so then I guess that mode would be about on par with some bullet hell shooters, you'd basically have to do a completely perfect run with no room at all for mistakes.

Where do you think it is required? It is just really helpful. I am currently going through a minimalist run of the game, and only have Palenque, Baphomet, and Tiamat left on my hit list.

We can agree that the feather isn't required up through Palenque (going by their numbered feilds), right? From that point forward, the Baphomet won't need anything special (besides waiting until he appears low), Tiamat will require an alternate strategy, and The Mother will have to be almost entirely meleed.

As for the specific strategy Tiamat needs, I am unsure of the gear going into that battle. Checking out the no-damage on Tiamat run would probabably benefit us both (though I saw that it took almost two-hundred tries and closed the video).

Don't worry! It will be easy! No damage Tiamat only took 91 tries. His death count says so.

Well, this person receives the Key Sword during a Time Trial. So you might recieve equipment whenever it becomes required, but not before. https://youtu.be/cXLKY4nVAhI?t=7:36

This came up in a discussion I was having on stream, as likewise, I was curious if it was possible or just an amusing troll from the devs (Ah Naramura, you da best) - one of my viewers took a crack at it with tool assistance to freeze their health value (or something like that) - You apparently get the feather when you make it to Tiamat, and you get the upgraded key sword at the fight for Mother so that you can start the fight - also, nice little damage upgrade from the base whip.

Thanks for telling us Hidden Distance. I already knew that you would get the Feather before Tiamat and the Key Sword before the Mother, but it is nice to see it confirmed.
