"Hot Springs" achievement trigger
Hello to you all !

(I'm actually playing on the Vita version of La-Mulana EX, but I think the question stands for the Steam version too)

I've just finished my combo run "Running out in the open" + "All I need is one finger" (so PROUD and RELIEVED ^^) thus I'm now very very close to platinum but... I miss one last achievement : the "Hot Springs" one. The thing is I can't trigger it, and its description is not very clear. If someone could answer at least one of these questions, it would help me a lot :

- Do I have to bath in a single run, or does it cumulate from run to run ?
- Do I have to be harmed for it to count ? (like, below 50% HP for example)
- Do I have to heal a minimum amount of health each time or can I jump in and out quickly ?

A hundred baths are a lot, so I'd rather not grind blindly, maybe even in vain :/

I love this game, but I was stressed during all my run, hoping all the e-mails and achievements would trigger properly. Fortunately they did. This one is the last obstacle on my road. Thanks in advance for your help !

Cheers.

I'm not sure on if you need to be harmed at all, or if you can just jump in and out of it over and over. I am sure that it's cumulative from run to run though. The achievement just came up for me on my 3rd run and I definitely didn't go in it 100 times in one run lol.

You have to be very low on health. And you can't jump in and out to speed it up.

At least that's what I read in the steam guide. Maybe we should check the code or something?

Muggy >> It was my third run too. Sadly I uninstalled/reinstalled the game after my first one, so the achievement hasn't popped up naturally and I'll have to grind my way through it ^^
(but if it cumulates between run, hopefully I won't have to grind too much)

DeRockProject >> Well, I won't ask anybody to check the code itself, but... if some kind hearted fellow "had the time" to do so then I'd be grateful, of course :)

Still, I find it disappointing that Nigoro hasn't stated clearly how the achievements really triggers.
Also, I've checked the trophies completion rates from the PSN : "I love hot springs!" has been obtained by 1.5% of the game's owners. So that would make it an easier achievement than, say, "defeat Tiamat", whose completion rate is only 1.4%.
Needless to say it is much much more common than "All I need is one hand" and "All I need is one finger", both at 0.1% (probably rounded up).

I'm kinda bitter to be missing this achievement that looks like a no-brainer haha.

Just try to use the spring as you would. Only when you're at very low health, and just sit in there. Not doing that might actually count out that spring use.

While I'm not sure either for what exactly counts, I can definitely confirm that - at least on Steam, can't promise on Vita - it's cumulative across multiple runs, just like the curry, Xelpud dialogue, Mulbruk dialogue, and background scan achievements.

I'm not really into going for another run on the game at the moment. I don't usually do 100%, so I'm burning out.

I'll try to spike me to near-death in Gate of Illusions, warp in Surface and refill my health bar a bunch of times. Hopefully it'll work.

Anyway, thanks for your opinions on the matter ! :)

Gosh I've been doing this for the last hour. I'm positively bored to death :(
And yet still nothing

EDIT : ooooo-kay, finally got it !
Can't confirm for sure what triggers it, but as I said, I kept spiking me to below 30HP in Gate of Illusion and then healed myself to full life in the hot springs.
Also, I was not paying a lot of attention so I don't know if the achievement popped up when I entered the spring, after I stayed in it for a moment, or after I was fully healed. It would have given us a clue about how it works :/

Least favourite of dem all trophies.

Nice, semorah! Now you just need to finish a minimalist run and a reverse boss order run for 100%! I'm still on the minimalist run, myself, stuck between Kamaitachi (windy scyth/sickle-weasel/wolf), Viy, and then Blackbeard wih Tai Sui.

Oh, and I still haven't beaten all of the Time Attack challenges! Yourself?

Haha thanks for the offer but I'll have to decline :)

It's only the second time in my life I hunt for achievements (saying the game was good !) but I won't go any further. I didn't even know "minimalist" run existed, I've watched some extracts on Youtube and it seems utterly cra-cra :o
(I couldn't find videos from anybody who actually finished this run, is it even possible ? Kudos to you if you manage !)

Same for the reverse boss mode.

And I haven't tried the Time Attack challenges neither. Not really into scoring though, and I thought it would be that.

I don't know if some TAS exist for these particular runs, but I'd be very interested in watching them at least ^^

A TAS of them... Now that's a pipe dream if I ever saw one. I would hope to god for just a full game any% TAS of this game or the original game.

Oh, also, what items do you absolutely need for minimalist run? I'm interested.

Yes, of course. That would have been cool, is what I'm saying ^^

I saw a detailed list of the items required in a minimalist run in the following topic :

Thank you!! They're the spoilered items, right? Does this also account for any items you can skip with the most recent glitches?

Well, I'm hoping to start one, as soon as Hourglass-Resurrection is complete. It does need help though.
