Cannot catch a catfish :(

Having troubles to catch first catfish, it has been in the net for 1000000+ times, but the quest hasn't stoped. Do I need to make stop inside the net? it seems very hard I cannot do it, it swims away from the net when it stops near it :(
any tips/advise?

I ran into this bug although mine was with the lover fish(which follows you). It started following me when I was in the boat so I thought maybe that was the problem. Later encountered it with other fish. Not sure what causes the bug, but if you enter/exit a cave it will fix this and you can catch them in nets again.

Each fish can only be caught in the nets near it. If you bring a fish to another net, it won’t count!

okay, but that's the first fish and i cannot catch it, that's why i'm a bit frustrated. As I said, it swam through the net a million times, but the quest hasn't ended, and i cannot seem to find the spot in the water where the fish "stops" IN the net so...

I've had the same problem with the fish near the 8-bit castle, and the one down by the dragon skeleton. Both cases I brought them to their own nets. Not sure why it happens.

I am also experiencing this issue with the first Catfish. I get the fish into the net multiple times and nothing happens. I've seen videos of it working, and I am definitely getting him inside the net far enough.

Restarting my game finally worked and it caught no problem after. Just reporting the issue.
