Story Mode
This game sounded perfect for me - rescuing animals and exploring a cool alien world, but WOW it was much harder than I expected. I freely admit I'm not the most skilled action gamer and I didn't realize this would be so challenging. (Though the glitchy targeting of the magic wand thingy and the very picky hit boxes on targets seemed to contribute to my issues). After dying about 100 times in the entry tutorial in the ruins with the creatures attacking me, I was about to give up and concede it isn't a game for me. Then I noticed you have a story mode - THANK YOU! However after switching to story mode, the difficulty didn't actually seem to get much easier. Does story mode actually work in the demo or is it still under construction? If that is as easy as it gets, I might still have to give up on this one.

Hi there!

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We appreciate that you took the time to leave a comment.

We agree that balancing the difficulty level of video games is quite challenging in general, and it's something we are actively working on ourselves. One of the reasons we released this demo publicly was to gather feedback like yours and identify areas where improvements are needed.

Regarding the Story Mode in the demo, while it does lower the combat difficulty, we understand it may not do so significantly enough. This is a priority for us, and we are already making adjustments in the non-public builds of the game.

Rest assured, our goal for the Story Mode in the full game is to make it truly accessible for most players. Additionally, we are also fine-tuning the Normal Mode. In the future, we may even consider introducing a Hard or Challenge Mode to cater to players who seek a greater challenge.

We carefully read all comments, even though we may not respond to each one individually, and your feedback on the difficulty settings of Creatures of Ava is invaluable to us as we make final adjustments.

Once again, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!

Cheers!

I feel the same! You are not alone. I was excited about this game and I really liked it (the graphics/art style, the story/setting, the puzzle solving with the wand and the exploration) until it came time to use the wand on the creatures. This type of action/combat is not for me. I played the demo on Story Mode hoping it would make the combat skippable or much easier and sadly, it didn't.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This is the kind of info I came here for! This game sounds absolutely fantastic, but I don't think I'd be able to play it without a true story mode that pretty much takes the "action" out of the action game lol
What's the status by now? And is there any platforming or other gameplay that requires dexterity, quick reactions etc.?

I also have issues with my character getting attacked, so apparently that might be challenging for me too... Is there going to be a demo available again at some point? Or do you feel like sending a review copy to my Curator so I can check it out for my little community of like-minded gamers (my group even frequently discusses issues with challenging gameplay)?

Thank you for your efforts to make your game more accessible! :ayos_heart:
