Launcher crash - Solved
I just launch the game and after 1-2 seconds of the launcher being open, it crashes.
Any help towards fixing this problem would be greatly apreciated.

Edit: Turns out it happens after the launcher checks for new content.

Edit 2: Turns out discord's in game overlay feature was the problem. If your launcher crashes and you have discord installed, make sure to deactivate the overlay before launching warframe.

Just a few ideas:
  • make sure your firewall isn't blocking the launcher
  • disable any running non-critical background processes (maybe something is interfering)
  • verify the game files in Steam (standard Steam option, usually only useful if the launcher doesn't work which is the case here) - will redownload a LOT of stuff!
  • redownload the launcher from the official site without Steam (unlikely to be the cause but hey...)

Made sure, firewall wasn't blocking, problem still occurs.
Disabled all non critical processes, same thing.
You can't actually verify the game files (steam doesn't display the option too, button is there but disabled).
Trying to redownload launcher now, we'll see what that does.
Thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated :)

Huh, indeed. Steam doesn't offer that option anymore. That's... new.
In that case you could also deinstall from Steam and reinstall afterwards.

Turns out just reinstalling the launcher solves the problem

I also have the same Issue but when I try to open up the launcher inside Warframe folder launcher tries to install a 15gb update

Unistall warframe and reinstall it. After that, it worked just fine.

That's because it's the stand-alone launcher and that wants to install Warframe in a different location than Warframe via Steam. If you let it, you basically end up with another (stand-alone) installation of Warframe.

Glad you got the issues sorted out.

Welp, Warframe is back at it again, same problem, same circumstances...
It'd be nice if I didn't have to reinstall the game again...

I think by now it's probably wise to let the support team help you out (i.e. support.warframe.com). I really can't think of anything else.
Be aware that some users have complained about currently rather long reply times, though (possibly because of the upcoming update).

I finally solved the problem: turns out if you have discord's ingame overlay feature activated, it will crash the launcher. I've also been in contact with [DE]Nathan, whom I've made aware of the problem.

Yeah, Warframe notoriously doesn't play all too well with a lot of overlays. I just didn't think you still had one active since I advised killing background processes or I would have advised to disable it for testing... anyways, glad it got solved in the end. Hopefully for good now. ;)

Sadly reinstalling and closing discord overlay didn't solve my problem :(

Try closing anything that's not a system process and currently needed. It might be another piece of software interfering.

Did you just switch off the overlay for warframe? Or did you disable it completely?
It only worked for me if I switched it off for any game.
