War Sword, wait for blueprint or get now?

so I got the War blueprint from my first Shadow stalker and I'm able to make it, but I don't know if I should wait to get another Broken War blueprint from another Shadow Stalker or use the quest one, you can't get it from Samiris either, the quest one already has an Orokin upgrade built into it too and it's been my best weapon since I got it, still kind of is so...
Keep my Broken War and wait for a new blueprint and use that for War
or
Use the quest-given Broken War for the War blueprint

I'd wait for the blueprint. Broken War is one of the better melee weapons, unlike War, which IMO is kinda further down the "list", but still good. However there's few better swords than Broken War and quite a lot of better heavy blades than War is.

Tl;dr: keep Broken War for now and wait for the blueprint.

wait, better swords than broken war? I've been using it since I got it and it's still good to me, I'm mastery 11 so far so I have a nice range of weapons to use now, but then again I haven't looked too much into the melee weapons I can get at this current rank... any suggestions.?

IMO Pangolin Prime, no competition at all. Broken War I'd say is either second or third best in the category, tied with Dakra Prime... that's if you meant swords.

Now if you mean melee weapons in general, I can not recommend Stropha and Redeemer Prime enough. My beloved Stropha has carried me through Steel Path and basically everything else except Tridolons, lol. I don't personally use Redeemer but it's just as good with slightly different strengths.

As for some *more* choices for melee weapons, my picks would be:
Stropha (duh)
Venka Prime
Plague Kripath
Pennant
Glaive Prime
Guandao Prime
Nikana Prime
Lesion
Gram Prime

Paracesis (spoilers maybe? If you don't have it, keep playing the game and avoid spoilers :>)

Which ones? Gram is garbage, but Gram Prime looks nice, it has the giant look and feel I want from a BFS. The other heavy blades either don't look like enormous blades, or aren't swords. War was the only other one I could see, looking around, but you say that one's not good, so I won't bother with it.

It's so slow that it's painful, but yeah, you're right. Paracesis is much better for sentients but other than that it depends on if you value speed or not. The differences aren't that vast at the end of the day. Also easier to build for umbra mods, but that one only matters for newer players.

and can't have a thread like this without saying that a customized zaw is usually better than any prime. There are a few where its close enough not to care, and you can build bad zaws, but if you built it for your needs, it should pull ahead in the long run.

Well now - I can't believe I somehow missed the Stropha ⎛⎝Xavil⎠⎞ mentioned; that seems right up my ally (considering I have the other 4 lol).

Granted it seems stupidly rare (Baro being only source I think besides the recent TennoCon) - would also recommend the Vastilok from the Gunblade category as a good contender. For me, i would prefer it over the Redeemer; but the difference is really just that Vastilok is a shotgun-blade, and Redeemer is a Handgun-blade. Save from sniping enemies with the redeemer standing heavy attack and having a head shot count on missions without guns equipped is fun, but the Vastilok seems better for taking the heavier folks out.

Stropha main BP drops from the Jackal, and the parts drop uncommonly from all 3 Granum Void tiers.
