Warframe: To use Steam or not to use Steam?

Because of how I have seen that Warframe can be enjoyed without all of those gimiky microtransactions, I have decided to give this game a chance. My concern about this game I have regards wether I should use the Steam client to play this game or if I should download the game directly from the Warframe website. Also if I was to use Steam to play the game, would it be unnessecery to make a seperate account via the website or is that all automatic?

You can link your Steam account to your Warframe by going to the website then going under Account Management then you can see the option. You also shouldn't need to make another account since you login via the launcher with the account on the warframe website to begin with. I normally use the Steam version just for keeping track of my hours and achievements but that's about it nothing really different than the regular downloadable version from the website.

Playing through Steam does give you access to the niffty Tennogen skins in the store also, as well as some purchasable skins in Steam trading.

woah wait, wasnt there a prompt on the steam copy of warframe? thats why i went over to the non steam so i didnt ♥♥♥♥ myself. i dont trust steam with my account...

I use both. The non-Steam one is less laggier tbh..

If you are a regular steam user, the steam version of Warframe does have some additional steam marketplace items as well as the steam workshop tennogen items, tho those are only available for money, not plat. The only real benefit of using the non-steam version is to not have to wait on steam client updates when launching every now and then. No need to make a new account as the accounts are the same, you can log into either one with the same one, tho in order to use the marketplace you will have to link your warframe acc and steam acc.
