However, some weapons have innate element combos on them and don't follow this rule. The Synoid Gammacor, for example, comes with Magnetic already and adding Electic + Toxin will then give you Corrosive AND Magnetic.
there are quite a few weapons actually that have Corrosive as base damage type on them and you can build magnetic on them with ease but most of the time its not really worth it since Magnetic is a pretty weak damage type overall because dealing with high level corpus usually comes down to either:
-Dealing large enough damage that their shields dont matter
-completely bypassing their shields with Toxic/Gas/slash damage
The reason i brought up Synoid gammacor as an example is because it has base magnetic damage and you build it for corrosive to deal with armor so it becomes a weapon that scales both against shields and armor but naturally you wouldnt want this on any other weapon where magnetic is not in the base damage.
As for weapons that Corrosive+Magnetic is possible, the list currently is:
Gammacor weapons ( innate Magnetic )
Simulor weapons ( Magnetic )
Scourge ( innate Corrosive )
Tysis ( Corrosive )
Stug ( Corrosive )
Caustacyst ( Corrosive )
Gazal Machete ( if you have a Djinn sentinel equipped, its Fatal Attraction precept syngerizes with the Gazal Machete; the machete gets Corrosive damage while Fatal Attraction is active )
As for a status effect though... Because you want gas but you still need the status chance is the only acceptable answer.
