I'm guessing they wanted to find the caches but never mentioned it first.
Or go for the third option and put fuel cell into the coolant.
REINSERT THE FUEL CELL INTO THE REACTOR: Requires destroying the fuel injectors afterward. The core overheats. Burn patches appear throughout the ship. You'll need to hack open a blast door to escape. Starting from the engine room, rooms start experiencing heat hazards that will passively inflict burn on you just from being within the room. Eventually, a timer will start - failure to escape the ship before the timer hits zero means the ship explodes with you on it.
INSERT A COOLANT CELL INTO THE REACTOR: Requires defending four coolant pumps in the engine room until the pumping process completes. Cold patches appear throughout the ship. There are no other hazards nor a timer, and you can escape at your leisure.
INSERT THE FUEL CELL INTO A COOLANT PUMP: Requires defending the reactor-start console for a brief period until the fuel cell has been pumped completely. Gravity is reduced, magnetic anomalies appear throughout the ship. You'll need to hack open a blast door to escape the ship. Magnetic anomalies slowly pull you toward them if you get too close, and magnetic-proc you repeatedly if you actually get pulled inside them. Hitting a magnetic anomaly with a weapon that does magnetic damage will cause it to pop, removing it and dealing magnetic damage to anything nearby. There is no timer or other hazards, and you can escape at your leisure.
Likely the guy either wanted to find the caches or something, but was being a turd about it. Ignore people like that. If he wants to finish a mission a particular way, he should use recruiting chat instead of pubbing it.
You analyze and then you make a decision, you don't do purely fire all the time, purely ice (helps to gather reactant), purely magnetic or magnetic and ice.
Do note that a 5th way to do the mission exists but isn't working correctly because the game doesn't realize you are already at extraction.
