If you're desperate for endo, sure you can sell the stars.
But always better to save them for statues, because you'll get a lot more that way.
Some day I'll have to find out how to use them for decoration, and whether they can be removed too since decorations don't give me anything.
Right now I don't need a lot of Endo anyway (again, newbie = I have to be very careful with mod upgrading), and I don't think there's a limit to the number of stars you can keep.
It's the same with everything, really. If I don't need it I'll still keep collecting it. I have tens of thousands of the common resources piled up (or at least some of them, I don't check numbers all the time), but I still smash every pile that I see.
Haven't gotten a statue in a while. though :-( But there have always been a lot more stars. Tried doing a Maroo quest once, but doing complicated movement stuff in an unknown maze of things on a clock just doesn't work.
After you rescue someone in one of the quests, she will offer you a quest every week to pick up a statue. You can sell the filled statues for a good amount of endo, don't worry about saving them... you'll get plenty as you play.
I started 2 weeks ago, and I've already gotten 3 that I sold for endo to upgrade mods.
