Locked door keys
As I understand it, there are some sort of keys to be found to unlock some of the doors that are locked. First, is this the case? Second, where does one find these keys and what do they look like? I'm still mostly on Mercury. Perhaps they don't come in to play until later?

I think what you mean is when a "lockdown" occurs. This usually happens with the Grineer or Corpus factions. What happens is that a enemy will run to a console (it will be a small screen lit with a green light) and lock most of the doors in the room, forcing you to clear the room of enemies and hack the console to unlock the doors. Oh, and if someone is stupid enough (be it allies or enemies) to blow up a window on a ship, you will need to hack a console to get the shutters down to seal off the breach, otherwise, you'll die from exposure.

Thanks, but I do know about those things. There are some doors, however, that show a yellow or red panel with a locked padlock on them. Those are supposed to be unlockable after finding a key of some sort. What I read said the keys look a bit like a "datamass", whatever that is. Any ideas?
I don't think there are any keys for those doors. If a door is yellow, it often means a lockdown where you need to hack a console, or two people need to hit both panels on each side of the door. Red doors are inaccessible just so you don't have levels expanding forever, because I think the levels are made of random rooms linked to each other. If you look on your mini-map it shows everywhere you can go. Usually, there are no rooms behind red doors.

I don't think I've ever encountered that. It sounds awesome. I gotta try that now (in solo; I'm not Joker enough to do that to my team).

Check this page out. This is where I read about it. It's under Key Search.

Ah, reading that, I def have encountered that, I just never saw the actual window. I remember several missions where things would suddenly go all wierd for thirty seconds or so: muffled sound accompanied by blurr vignetting. Thought maybe I'd been hit wih some kind of higher-level enamy ability or something. Good to know what that was now.
No no, on the same page, above the bit about atmosphere venting. The part about the Key Search.

The breakabe windows have a health bar that says "REINFORCED GLASS". Destroy that to trigger it.
The "Key Search" is just another type of mission objective. You have to go somewhere else and get the key (which uses the same in-game graphics as the datamass object) in order to be able to open the yellow door and proceed to the end of the level. It's not a secret room.

Red doors are never openable.
Ok thanks. But what is this datamass object? What does it look like? I guess that's the part I just don't get. I'll never find it if I don't know what it looks like.

It probably looks like the data breifcase thing you get when you have to retrieve data from several terminals. Either that or look for something you can press X on (or whatever key you have bound to "use")

Ok, gotcha. Thanks for your help and patience. :-)
hate to tell you but there are rooms behind red doors, here is a quote from the wiki " Despite the extinguishing of its orokin features, the derelict still holds the secrets of its past. Decayed versions of the parkour courses withstand with even greater secrets (note that these aren't usually found on the minimap and are often hidden behind red-lit doors) and somehow their locks still seem to be functional whether obvious or not."

This thread is from over 8 months ago, since before the void or the derelicts were even introduced. Why would you even bother with a thread that's been dead for so long, even Nekros wouldn't revive it?
