Looking to get a new melee weapon. what is THE BEST melee weapon in the game?

there is no best weapon, but there are some overall bad weapons. I haven't tried the Bo but it looks okay, I use a Fragor which is pretty beast imo because it's airstrike knocks down surrounding opponents. I believe the Fragor and Scindo have the exact same properties (not sure on airstrike however). They do the most damage and can connect with several enemies at once IE: one charged swing in the middle of a crowd can kill 3 to 4 people. If you want to play it safe the best weapon to replace your skana with (which is a terrible sword get rid of it) is the Cronus. It has a 100% chance to drop from the mercury boss and it's fairly easy to make. It has the exact same fighting style as Skana and bares much resemblance, except it has much better stats.

there is no one size fits all in this game. choose whatever is good for your playstyle. i run with dual skana and they are great. for me.

I think Scindo is probably the best in the most situations.
the big ole 2h sword seems pretty powerful I think ima go for that one next.

I have a similar but more specific question, so I'll hijack this thread; I currently play a loki who likes to use invisibility and use charge attacks to kill large numbers of enemies quickly so my question is what weapon is quick, has a wide arc and can hit multiple enemies? the damage it does is largely irrelevant as long as it can kill in one hit using invisibility crits. I was thinking of getting Gram, but it looks a bit too slow, and when you're rushing to kill as many as possible during invisibility, speed is everything.

All of the weapons that hit multiple enemies (Gram, Scindo, Dual Heat Swords, Fragor, etc. ) have slow charge times by default. The fastest at the moment is the Amphis, but it's charge damage is much lower.

Actually, the Dual Zoren has the fastest charge speed in the game (as far as I know) and can hit pultiple enemies.

I use the Bo, but that's more of a personal preference for me. You can make any melee weapon good with the right mods.

Dual Heat Swords have relatively fast charge and they have one of the highest charge attack strengths in the game. Slap a Reflex Coil on it and you can make mincemeat out of mobs- especially in invisibility. It also has innate fire AoE on jump smash which makes it really nice on infestation maps.

Its normal slices are a bit on the weak side sadly, but the ability to bisect three Grineer in a single quick charge makes me not want to swap it out.

The bo, heavy weapons and all dual wield weapons can hit multiple targets with fully charged melee attacks. The fragor and the giant axe (can't remember the name atm) can hit multiple targets with basic attacks as well.

The bo and fragor have built in knockback (stumbles the target on basic attacks, knocks em airborn withfully charged melee attacks) and armor penetration with both basic attacks and charge attacks, which comes in handy against grineer and corpus.

All daggers have built in armor penetration and are quick to charge, but lack range and can't hit multiple targets.

Slashing weapons are better against infected.

Heat damage mods work best against grineer and infected. Electric works best against corpus (stuns workers with each hit). Cold is the best all around due to its slow effect.

Thats the basic rundown of melee weapons.

I use a Cronus and love it. I have a fully fused Pressure Point on it, Killing Blow maxed, Reflex coil at 3 bars, Molten Impact at 5 bars. That's +42% melee damage, +150% charge damage, +40% charge speed, +60% melee fire damage. I chop down everything but heavies in 1 charge, charge is about... half a second?

If I get into trouble, surrounded by Infested chargers, say. I invis, and I can charge-chop about... 12 guys before I run out of stealth. Granted I have a maxed invis and a 20% extention on powers.
