Anyway, I just shove a TON of Ability Strength and Duration on him, giving like, 25 seconds of x3.2 movement speed (plus the Sprint Aura, cause why not?). I call the build "Gotta Go Fast" (or, in the case of Cetus, "I Got ♥♥♥♥ To Do"). Then I just use my guns or whatever.
The game was (originally) designed so that each Frame should build for a specific thing. That's what EVERY Frame, companion and weapon has 3 pages for it. In my case, I couldn't really use my "Escort Volt" for CC, because then I'd be sacrificing Strength and Duration for Range.
And while yeah, while something like x2.5 speed might still seem fast to most people to fix this problem, I don't think most people do those escort missions in bulk. For instance, to cap my Cetus Standing, I have to run Narmer Bounties 6 times a day. That somehow takes one to two hours. Every day. The drone escort part alone takes like 2 minutes of walking, if unbuffed. Fully buffed, that escort takes like 40 seconds. Every second of that I can get rid saves some of my sanity, which I then have to use to suffer through like 4 more hours of daily BS.
TL;DR: It is, what it is.
But that said, yeah, solo. I can think of no reason I'd want to tolerate a volt's speed boost unless it was time to head to extraction.
I was going to suggest similar. Or just a system option that could easily be toggled in-game; disable/ignore player buffs.
just me???
♥♥♥♥.
Extra points if you target buff frames as you leap off a cliff.
Gotta train those necromancy skills somehow I suppose.
