Tenno recommendation
Too many options. If u could buy any tenno (prime or not) and u enjoy rifle assaults and sometimes going melee...which tenno would u pick?

Starting off? Grab a Rhino. Has a diverse skill set that can clear out the starchart, even has a helminth replaceable skill. At endgame, it would be a little harder but you can't go wrong with Saryn.

Mirage and Gauss have also picked my interest, how are they?

Rhino or Revenant, they're simple enough to get into and use on a mission-to-mission basis, and Revenant is good for endgame content.

Both are great frames, Mirage is a little more weapon dependent but has one of the best damage boosts in the game, although situational (QoL change later will change this). She can be used to make map wide nukes (augment with her 2) and her 4 and doesn't change how you play the game.

Gauss is another frame with a very robust skill set, near invulnerability, energy generation, increased fire rate and melee rate, all sorts of AoE, some that are versatile (heat/cold), armor strip, etc BUT you really have to get used to his gameplay style since it's very movement focused (as in you need to be moving around a lot to get the best out of the kit).

Both are good with rifles, with Mirage being better with stuff like launchers and Gauss being better with auto style weapons (like Acceltra Prime). Gauss's 4 and tankiness is great for melee.

Th real answer is all of them. You're going to need one of each, because that's the fastest way to rank up and use the higher level weapons.

But if you're talking about paying platinum? Don't. Just buy slots instead. You can get all of the base frames easily by playing the game, and the primes are also farmable.

It may be just a language translation barrier, but for future reference, the word you are looking for is "Warframes", not "Tenno". "Warframes" are the different bodies you run around in, each with different looks and abilities. "Tenno" are also in the game, and some characters will call you Tenno, but you will learn more about what that name means later on in the game.

As for your question, I would say Wisp. She is one of my favorites, useful in a lot of scenarios, and she can increase the attack speed of both guns and melee.

Inaros was my first main just because he's a great lazy tank and easy to mod for. Literally just stack health and armor spam 1 when you get low and go for melee finishers (tap x on blinded enemies) to heal up and you're good to use any weapons. Lately been using Mirage more and found she's pretty fun if a bit squishy with her 3 being as inconsistent as it is, but next update they're gonna fix that so yeah go for her.

I'd recommend not buying any but that's up to you. Every boss drops parts for one specific Warframe and many more you'll get without much trouble just by playing the game.

Some are also rewards for completing the different story missions so spending money on those is mostly a huge waste.

inaros is getting an upcoming rework and it sounds pretty good

wisp is obvs a solid all-rounder tho

bottom line tho , there are 50+ warframes , the whole point is that you are supposed to have a lot of choices and the difficulty in making those choices is what makes them interesting

This is like Pokémon, gotta catch 'em all!... But going back to your original question, there is not only one correct answer and here they will give you ideas according to each person's own experiences.

There are specific warframes that have bonuses for primary weapons and/or abilities that enhance the use of them (such as fast reloading, rate of fire, piercing, etc.), apart from several that have their signature weapons (which give you other perks if used by the corresponding warframe), not to mention the mods, arcanes, Exilus mods, passive abilities, invigorations, archon shards, companion perks, abilities/buffs of other players that enhance yours, etc.... For melee it is the same, there are even characters that have synergy between both types of attacks and endless possibilities.

It is part of the entertainment that the game provides, you must do a little research, invent your own combinations, share experiences, try trial and error.

Good luck, Tenno!

Here's three options I'd personally pick for more of a assault rifle focus that are easy to get the hang of.

Rhino can do almost anything you need and is more dependent on weapons for damage. He's also not very energy dependent compared to some other frames. As long as you dodge his Iron Skin will keep you alive as a safety net and protect you from status defects.

His first ability is boosted by his second and fourth, his third is a great overall damage buff, and his fourth is crowd control. His high durability and damage lets you play like a Space Marine, his one lets you close for melee and avoid damage (you're invulnerable during it) and his four lets you pick them off with your rifle.

Volt is also a overall good choice and is also a starter.

His two speeds up reload and rate of fire and his three actually buffs shots fired through it after you use his one on it (good for rifles) and stacks with multiple shields. His four is a panic button that can be later upgraded with a mod for overshields. His passive is alright when combined with a high damage per shot weapon or his fourth ability. He has a lot of ways to stun enemies so that you can finish them with melee or your rifle.

Frost is another solid choice. He's easy to understand and the frost status boosts crit chance and damage on enemies. He also gives a variety of crowd control options but his somewhat low energy holds him back a bit IMO.

His one is a CC move that works on Eximus enemies. His two is his one but bigger and good for hallways or dealing quick damage. His three will let you turtle and shoot at enemies on weaker difficulties but is a panic button on higher levels as it is invulnerable for four seconds and pushes enemies away. His four is a debuff and CC and on lower difficulties a nuke.
