Gauss is another frame with a very robust skill set, near invulnerability, energy generation, increased fire rate and melee rate, all sorts of AoE, some that are versatile (heat/cold), armor strip, etc BUT you really have to get used to his gameplay style since it's very movement focused (as in you need to be moving around a lot to get the best out of the kit).
Both are good with rifles, with Mirage being better with stuff like launchers and Gauss being better with auto style weapons (like Acceltra Prime). Gauss's 4 and tankiness is great for melee.
But if you're talking about paying platinum? Don't. Just buy slots instead. You can get all of the base frames easily by playing the game, and the primes are also farmable.
As for your question, I would say Wisp. She is one of my favorites, useful in a lot of scenarios, and she can increase the attack speed of both guns and melee.
Some are also rewards for completing the different story missions so spending money on those is mostly a huge waste.
wisp is obvs a solid all-rounder tho
bottom line tho , there are 50+ warframes , the whole point is that you are supposed to have a lot of choices and the difficulty in making those choices is what makes them interesting
There are specific warframes that have bonuses for primary weapons and/or abilities that enhance the use of them (such as fast reloading, rate of fire, piercing, etc.), apart from several that have their signature weapons (which give you other perks if used by the corresponding warframe), not to mention the mods, arcanes, Exilus mods, passive abilities, invigorations, archon shards, companion perks, abilities/buffs of other players that enhance yours, etc.... For melee it is the same, there are even characters that have synergy between both types of attacks and endless possibilities.
It is part of the entertainment that the game provides, you must do a little research, invent your own combinations, share experiences, try trial and error.
Good luck, Tenno!
Rhino can do almost anything you need and is more dependent on weapons for damage. He's also not very energy dependent compared to some other frames. As long as you dodge his Iron Skin will keep you alive as a safety net and protect you from status defects.
His first ability is boosted by his second and fourth, his third is a great overall damage buff, and his fourth is crowd control. His high durability and damage lets you play like a Space Marine, his one lets you close for melee and avoid damage (you're invulnerable during it) and his four lets you pick them off with your rifle.
Volt is also a overall good choice and is also a starter.
His two speeds up reload and rate of fire and his three actually buffs shots fired through it after you use his one on it (good for rifles) and stacks with multiple shields. His four is a panic button that can be later upgraded with a mod for overshields. His passive is alright when combined with a high damage per shot weapon or his fourth ability. He has a lot of ways to stun enemies so that you can finish them with melee or your rifle.
Frost is another solid choice. He's easy to understand and the frost status boosts crit chance and damage on enemies. He also gives a variety of crowd control options but his somewhat low energy holds him back a bit IMO.
His one is a CC move that works on Eximus enemies. His two is his one but bigger and good for hallways or dealing quick damage. His three will let you turtle and shoot at enemies on weaker difficulties but is a panic button on higher levels as it is invulnerable for four seconds and pushes enemies away. His four is a debuff and CC and on lower difficulties a nuke.
