Warframe

Crafting times?
I noticed upon receiving my first batch of blueprints that not only do you need a lot of credits and mats but you also have to wait for the item to be built.

How much worse does this get later on? And how much bigger are these time constraints when it comes to warframe blueprints or other things?

Going into this as a person who won't be spending money I find my first real turn off to the game is the huge grind (Which is annoying but not dealbreaking) and having to WAIT for an item I already worked at earning.

Sure it's a nitpick, but if I wanted to wait for stuff all the time I'd play Facebook games.

Weapons= 12h or 24h and warframes= 3 days. It sucks but you can't help it without real money.

12/24 hours for weapons. 12 hours for warframe parts, 72 to put them together. Never bought a warframe or weapon and never rushed anything with platinum.

Ugh...that's really disappointing, I mean yeah it's a free game but that just feels insanely unnecessary when you've already been grinding to build it to begin with.

I like the game but I don't see myself dropping nearly as much time into it as I had originally planned, it's one thing to have the option to speed things along with $$$ but trying to artificially force (Emphasis on artificially, cause I don't want people putting words in my mouth cause obviously they aren't actually forcing me to do anything) people into spending $$$ by adding time constraints like that on top of the grind just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I've quit games entirely on principle cause of such things, shame too....I was pretty excited about this one.

Thanks for the info guys! Saved me a great deal of time (No pun intended).

The time isn't very long. I mean, go to sleep and its done next morning.

Well yeah, if this was 1-5 hours I'd agree with you. But 12-24 or MORE when you only have a short amount of time to play in a week is unreasonable, sure I could keep playing while I wait but it's a little boring to have the same weapons/frames all the time.

That's not what he was referring to. As you said yourself:

The time spent when you're not in-game could be the waiting time itself. The time is only frustrating for those who spend an eternity into the game, which reminds them of the said build and makes them wait. But for those who plays the game occasionally can always just log off and do whatever they do in their everyday life while the time ticks away.

The company has to encourage a source of income as they do put in alot of time and effort into the game, considering how this is somewhat one-of-a-kind game and has an awfully impressive presentation to it. So I wouldn't say it's entirely unnecessary, it's rather acceptable to be honest.
Micki Jan 9, 2014 @ 3:33am
Yes it's a long time, but it's reasonable. If you simply play the game, and level up your mastery rank, by the time your weapons hit 30, you'll have crafted another weapon.
Ttariel Jan 9, 2014 @ 6:53am
Dont worry, once you get rolling with it you stop to notice.

Finish 1 weapon and the next one is doen in 20 min etc
Saga Jan 9, 2014 @ 7:26am
Yeah for real when you hit about rank 3 you will be rolling in credits and have so much stuff building that it wont bother you. Also, what new players often don't realize is that mods are VASTLY more important than weapons. Ranking a new weapon or frame up to 30 takes no time at all, but leveling those mods (which is where you REALLY get statistical differences in damage etc etc) can take much longer. So really NO time is ever wasted while youre playing warframe. Stock up on those fusion cores and level up those mods so that when your item finishes you have what you want for ranking it up to lvl 30.

It's called plan ahead, and get a life.
If you seriously ran out of things to level or do while waiting for crafting time to be up. Go outside, play another game, talk to your parents, get together with your friends. For god sake's do something else than Warframe.

12 hours / 72 hours isn't that long, considering this should be an entertainment, not a job.

I asked a question, I got my answer. You're not adding anything constructive, instead you're wasting time out of your life to try and tell me that I should get a life instead of complaining about an arbitrary and needless system that is actually deterring my gameplay instead of encouraging it.

When I have 1-2 days a week to play a game and I have no other social or otherwise demanding responsibilities I will do as I please, I'm a working and responsible adult, that is my business.

If something is in place in the game that impedes that ability, then it's not worth playing regardless of the reason.

So, in short how about you take your OWN advice and get a life instead of getting in my business which does not in any way involve you, alright? Cool.

In any case I uninstalled the game anyway, I had a momentary lapse of control during my rank up test and failed it (My drivers crashed for a peripheral device) and found out it's a 24 hour wait to try again, meaning any xp gained is likely wasted for the day, so I'm not wasting any more time on a game that has so many things in place to waste time instead of providing gameplay.

DIsregard this thread as I will not revisit the board, thanks for the USEFUL info I recieved and good day to everyone else.

As there may be one or two things people could argue with you about, the post above yours is one you really shouldn't mind. Some people do feel the urge to involve themselves and voice something quite ignorant just to provide themselves an ego-stroke, a pat on the back.

It was clear that he ignored the fact you said you have little time to play during a week, which implies you have other business rather than playing videogames, fret not, the rest of us paid attention.

Despite that this info may not be beneficial to you, it might be to others who have wondered similar thing. The XP gained during that time after the test were failed and XP bar shown as capped, is actually saved towards the next rank progression. The developers kept that in mind when they put in the 24 hours cooldown before one is allowed to do the test again. This is mainly so people would value tests more, when realizing how fragile these tests are upon failure.

Well THAT is actually good to know, Actually to a point where I might get back into the game at a later time.

Still seems rather steep though if you ask me.

It is true, the game does have alot of mechanism that may demotivate us from playing it, as the matter of fact I did leave the game once. But I returned, and somehow found the joy in the game, along with all the waiting time.

Go nuts.
