When you perform Finisher attacks on multiple enemies your combo multiplier will jump quite high. However, only Finisher KILLS will raise your initial combo.
Don't mistake them for being the same thing.
The consequences of this is that there's a limit on how much initial combo is helpful for heavy attack spam builds.
All those youtube videos yelling about how melee crescendo is busted are *mostly clickbait. There's still genuinely good uses for either melee crescendo or initial combo though.
The best use case being Ash, whose 4th skill counts as finishers and scales with melee combo. Perfect Melee Crescendo use right there.
It's handy for making stat sticks for pseudo exalteds such as Gara's Lash, Khora's Whip, and Atlas' Fists. Not a crescendo thing so much as a Ceramic Dagger thing in those cases.
Works for Secondary Outburst too. You can use it to give Mesa's Peacemaker's an extra kick, or just to pair with any crit hungry secondary.
Of course, with Melee Crescendo there's a bit of set up involved, so it's still probably only for longer missions.
Even at max rank you still need to get 37 finisher kills to max out your initial combo.
i know this as its litterally how my mesa build works but none of this at all is related to what im talking about
this time i didnt enter the simulacrum first and it seemed far less aggressive but it still happend so i dont know whats going on did they make it so finishers give combo without melee crescendo? and could that be causing some confusion with the arcane?
I just tried at simulacrum and it work well, step:
1. I pick hate incarnon with melee crescendo
2. I pick vazarin for easy to open for finisher
3. I cast vazarin ability #2 and enemy vacuum in group and open for finisher
4. I press finisher button to perform finisher, then repeat step 3-4 many times to get finisher kills
5. at first round I get 5x combo and the combo pause at 5x without go down any further
6. I repeat until reach 12x and it stay 12x forever
result: nothing change , everything work perfectly fine.
Edit: I decided to add some video clip as evidence , but this time I'm using Magistar Incarnon instead , feel free to watch it, don't mind for poor quality video, I have 0 knowledge for video capture :

i litterally just went from 9x down to 3x without it going back up and this didnt use to happen before
keep in mind im using the red crit mesa build making use of the secondary outburst and the finisher stun mod for the bronco and not vazarin etc
as long as you use melee to finisher, it should work, I could try again with other weapons like Zakti Prime (it open finisher for a brief moment when gas explode) as well , because I don't have bronco

what im beginning to suspect is that secendary outburst arcane and melee crescendo is causing some back end mess or something
