Ask away if you have any questions.
Don't let the decade of content scare you and it's wrong to confuse that with it being "complex", nothing about Warframe is hard. It's one of the easiest games out there and for builds there's one rule, don't overmod stats. The rest is choice of playstyle now, you can shield tank, HP tank, if you feel spicy and skillful, shieldgate. Otherwise eh, hold down LMB or E and just everything dies.
HOWEVER, the community is VERY new player friendly and there are ALWAYS vets around who would love nothing more than to help you learn the game.
Here's some copy-pasted advice I have saved for new players entering the game. Point 1 is probably the most important for you as a *potential* new player because it tells you how easy it is to find a reliable source of help in the game.
1- Go to the in-game recruit chat and ask for a new player friendly guild. There are nearly always a few in there at any given time. This should not cost you ANYTHING. A clan that tries to charge you or make you do something is not worth your time (if anything they should be offering to help you with a few "Starter gifts". I wouldn't ASK for handouts, but a lot of vets like myself will offer anyway because we have tons of extra mods we couldn't sell if we wanted to, but would help a new player a lot)
2- Build the "Clan Key" blueprint you'll get once you join.
3- Once the key is built, go to the Dojo (bottom left corner of star chart) and look around. There are a number of "Shops" called "Labs" that offer a LOT of different weapons, items, and even some new FRAMES. All the blueprints cost credits + resources to build.
4- The "Tenno lab" is where you can get several frames. I suggest "Nezha" to all new players. His 3rd ability is a massive bonus "health pool", his 2 is a damage multiplier debuff you can cast on bosses/tough targets, and his 1 is move speed + status removal
5- Work on the main story quests and let them guide you through the star chart. Your clan members can be called on to help if you get stuck on a mission or just get bored playing with randos.
6- Upgrade your mods and builds. This is honestly MORE important than getting new guns. I made a google doc with locations for a lot of important mods that aren't in the "normal" drop tables from regular missions or enemies. https://docs.google.com/document/d/16qqhsV-yxBEabH0odvgPiva0AoOpawEPwRZUYcgU_zI
7- There are several new player friendly youtubers with builds and guides. I highly suggest TheKengineer and LeyzarGamingViews
8- Nightwave is the 100% free battlepass for Warframe and will include aura mods, orokin reactors and catalysts, warframe and weapon slots, cosmetics, weapons, and augment mods. All you have to do is complete the daily/weekly tasks. If you miss a few, you'll be able to get them back later once you're more capable so don't stress out too much
Basically, Pick Volt then in the market filter only items with blueprints pick a staff weapon like tipedo, build a vulkar, karak, boltor, build a furis. Focus on unlocking planet nodes & building mastery rank weapons so you can run Invasions for weapons.. Pick a syndicate for Augment mods and weapons as soon as possible. Build a snipetron vandal off invasions and the opticor from venus max it out for eidolons, max out your furis, i wouldnt max anything else out of the market except atmos, twin grakas & sonocor. Join a clan asap so you can trade and get access to clan weapons market... youll get a taxon sentinal around venus max his Artax out for sure. As for mods i wouldn't max any of the big mods always -2 like serration until you get a little more credits & endo. last but not least Viral heat should take you all the way to the end game its pretty much JOAT of elements.
The hardest part is learning all the important mods becasue they dont introduce them too you at all until you find them so either do a quick youtube seach for current meta builds or just watch trade chat and click on links... Even i dont know how all mods work some are broken but.... Cetus on earth gives a lot of good mods now days and its only like your first planet... Gladiator set is endgame for mods on warframe and Augars will perform great its much better then running a set of Damaged mods like in the past.
Id also recommend spending $20 for starter plat makes trading early game easier you can also wait for your first discount of 75% or the 50% off. You will probably have to potato your starter but if you can manage to get a prime frame quick something like a wisp prime or gauss prime are really good from current rotation of primes.
Soo.. new OP starter gear
Opticor
Artax
Gladiators set [End Game]
Augars set
hunters set
vigilante set
Pre POE
Snipetron Vandel
damaged mods
It both is, and Isnt new player friendly.
If you are no stranger to Heavy Looter games, like Diablo 2, 3 or Destiny, then yes. This game will be a New-Player Friendly game.
If you are a complete stranger to the Looter style game.. No.
The Game gives you basically no Tutorial no How to obtain Mods, how to use mods and how to upgrade Mods.
Shoot, it barely gives you a tutorial on how to play.
Add to that it has so many systems now to boost your strength, and it basically just throws you into the deep end after the first say 10 hrs of hand-holding, yeah. it absolutely is not very friendly to new players and can quickly become overwhelming.
But, that shouldnt discourage you. The community is amazing and chat is always eager to help newcommers to the game!
What the game lacks in Guides for the game, the community more than makes up for! Just understand that it can be rough without asking for directions, but it is still possible.
Its not THAT bad as a new player all in all.
Legitimately though, the game is REALLY fun. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be hooked, I'm sure. xD
Nope. LOL
It is a game you can get into and its totes worth it, but you will struggle at first.
It has several systems which level up.
You have your MR. Your account rank, which is decides by -how many- individual weapons, waframes, pets -everything- you level up.
Some weapons dont become available until your MR hits a higher level. (Highest i think is around sixteen but im most likely wrong, and its lower then that)
Some parts of the game are story locked, which means you cant access all systems until you have done the questlines.
So, if you follow the game do a quest now and then to start out. You will quickly get the hang of lower end gameplay.
Do more quests, get access to more frames, weapons, systems. Which i dont want to spoil to much about as thats part of the fun to explore.
So if you fall into the trap of, 'i like this warframe, and this weapon, i dont want to level others' you can get what is known as MR STUCK. Which happens to some low level players that simply do not get past using a very limited selection of weapons because they LOVE IT. And cant get access to higher tier weapons and.. forget that you really level up, by leveling up your account to that (As i said, i think) level sixteen threshold. Where most systems are unlocked MR wise, and now you just need to do quests to get access to it all.
So to summerize,
It is an easy game to pickup. Slightly more difficult to master. You can easily get lost within it.
But.. it is worth it..
I started playing in Beta. We had zero guides or youtube videos. But the game was simpler then. My point being is there a whole lake of guides and videos to help the modern player out. There are many friendly Tenno willing to help a new player. Its a learning curve to be sure but its not insurmountable in the slightest. Start by looking up new player guides on youtube.
Also, Destiny 2 is the worst game to start new in that I have found. A convoluted mess. Not just about game mechanics but also what content is available and what you should do as a new player.
Honestly, I think the Beta's lack of explanations for things is part of the reason Warframe's community is a relatively good one compared to others. Quite a few of us remember how helpful it was to have someone show us the nuances to the game, and the "OH!" when it started to click.
DE has become much better about the early game explanations, true. But... there are still a lot of nuances to things that aren't explained (*cough* Eidolons *cough*). A good community can help each other to keep track of them, such as this one.
