How does Nekros desecrate and shadows of the dead work?
How does Nekros desecrate and shadows of the dead work?
It just seems like most of the time I try to use desecrate it does noting, not even giving me health orbs. Like I have my settings turned down, dose that effect how long you have to reroll a corpse? similar story with shadows of the dead, except I cant tell why it does and and doesnt work most of the time. is the window to reroll and revive corpses really small or something? I know if you disintegrate and cause enemies to explode apart its not supposed to work, but still.

dessecrate simply makes enemies roll for loot again after they die by consuming their corpses(enemies cut in half by slash damage allow this effect to trigger twice) with a hyper bias to create health orbs

it takes 2 second for it to start working after you turn it on then it consumes corpses at a rate of up to 3 corpses per second

each corpse consumed triggers the ability's energy cost(or health cost with augment)

https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Desecrate

shadows of the dead simply summons up to 7 of the most recently killed enemies as allies using a priority list each with a bonus to their stats then after summoned their health drains over time to simulate a duration, recasting it heals any existing shadows and summoning new ones if any are dead while also teleporting existing ones near to you, if all were alive it gets a shorter animation

the augment gives u an amount of DR per active shadow

I get that I read the wiki, but ill use desecrate on a group of bodys and it like never does anything. like I would understand it not giving me its dropped loot, but I dont even get orbs, and if i dont get orbs consistently then that sucks

If I remember right, you have to have over 100% power strength to have the full chance to Desecrate - if you have less than 100% power strength, it has a chance to not trigger per corpse.

Dessecrate has a static 54% chance to proc unaffected by str, but range does have an effect on how far away you can be from a body

@op whats ur build?

My guess then is that either you're killing things out of range or that you go oom and the energy turns off

Just checking, you are aware that desecrate is a toggle not an ability you have to activate each time you want to use it right?

You just have to turn it on and let it run.

If you activate it while it is running it will turn off and no longer consume the corpses.

I have an efficiency/range focused Nekros that I use for farming and it's almost impossible for me to run out of energy unless I get hit with an energy leech or mag proc over and over.

like it seemed like if I held it down it would try to do more. but do you mean i just press it and release and it will continue on? because if just pressing it like you do with most ability's

You press it once and never touch it again. As long as you don't run out of energy/health or touch a nully, it will do its thing.

It's an ability that you just activate and it will automatically convert bodies to loot at the fastest rate possible. If you keep pressing it it will turn off and on and you have to keep paying the original casting cost and waiting on the 2 sec delay over and over

From the wiki page for the ability:
Nekros emits an aura of dark power that affects every corpse within a radius of 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 meters, consuming the corpses and granting a 30% / 40% / 50% / 60% chance to spawn a health orb and a 22.5% / 32% / 42.5% / 54% chance to roll the corpse's drop table again to produce additional loot. After a 2 second delay on the first corpse within range, corpses are consumed one at a time in random order, with subsequent corpses consumed at a rate of 3 corpses per second. Each corpse consumed drains 10 energy; the ability will remain active until toggled off or Nekros runs out of energy.

As stated, its a click and forget ability. (Check once in a blue moon in case of nullifyer or energy shortage)
Unless you run the augment.
In which case, 2 blue archon shards for 7.5 hp/s can counter the drain at max speed to stay topped off.
