You should be able to create builds that fit your own playstyle, that's the best way to truly enjoy the game.
A lot of players rely on the Rolling Guard mod these days, and I can't deny that it's effective. But it doesn't suit my playstyle, and I really dislike using it.
Personally, I always bring a Wyrm Prime with Negate when I use shieldgate warframes, while some players can't drop their beloved Panzer / Hound no matter the situation.
Verglas is undeniably strong, but I don't prefer it. It's a poor primer compared to something like Tazicor, which can chain to four enemies (more with some punch t.) and reliably apply Viral status . A lot of people will tell you Verglas is better than Tazicor (or Helstrum), sure, it's better for damage, but not for priming. Ofc, some players love min-maxing their crit damage and Tazicor/helstrum can't proc Tenacious bond, but verglas can.
The point is, create builds that work for you. The magic is in trial and error, until you find what best suits your playstyle. And that's an interesting and important part of this game, trying new things and adapting them to your needs.
It does help to know the mod system well enough to mod a given Warframe or weapon based on its stats, but most players get that part figured out pretty quick. Like, don't build Inaros for shield tanking.
Technically you could build Grendel for shield-tanking. This is funny.
i appreciate the advice but you're like 900 hours too late for this kind of advice lol
i was asking because i want a good place to look to for new builds. i'm bored of mopping the floor with SP enemies and doing endurance runs and i want some new marks to work towards in terms of weapon and warframe builds. new things to try alternatives i haven't thought of. ect. the fun of a game that allows build crafting y'know? someone somewhere is bound to have found a weapon build or a warframe build that i haven't thought of even trying to make
TheKengineer, MCGamerCZ, TacticalPotato, AznVasionsPlays, and Brozime (to a lesser extent) are ones I follow. All of them are pretty good at buildcrafting, and showing their thought process. In TheKengineer's case, he also includes math.
I have seen other channels pop up more recently, but I haven't seen enough of their content to recommend them yet.
i think i'm actually closer to like. 2.500+ hours actually. its just 900+ hours on steam. so i'm already way past the "Experiment and find the build that works for you! :D" phase and like i said. i'm looking for places to find builds. i don't need advice on how to make them
i also know overframe is bad... "i've only ever known youtube to be the place to find good builds because overframe is clown heaven"
As far as where to look for builds, I've noticed that beyond the obvious "just play the game and find folks who have interesting things then ask them how it works" angle that I'm relegated to the same thing I've done since Warbros were #1 and just lurking the basket weaving forum and sometimes asking for tips on a few ideas I've got rolling around. There's a few folks on discords around that might be worth talking to as well, but again that's a long haul option of separating the wheat from the chaff.
I know this is an answer that isn't going to help much with your question, but I can certainly sympathise.
Outside of that, talking with other players, especially specific frame enjoyers, can be an eye opening experience. For example, today, I was talking to someone on reddit about a build and from just one information, I was able to upgrade damage by quite a bit.
I sense a growing need for a BuildShares thread here on Steam.
I'm technically at work right now, so I can't login to check builds to start things off for a proper thread. Does someone else want to do the honors?
They'll recommend augmenty, or specific mods to build around. If the build is good you can copy it, and if the build is bad you can use the newfound knowledge to make your own good build. You'll also generally learn who makes good builds (ninjase) and who does not (them00n) as you use the sites
EG; Ninjase taught me that sevagoth's augment mods can help him do 100% of an enemy's health as true damage at 255% ability strength. I use a very similar endgame build to him, but I also have a build hitting that cap off the bat for quicker and shorter missions. Never could have made either without looking at his build, even though I don't actually use his.
- understanding how damage works
- use references EVEN its from overframe, but I'm not saying to follow it. Just understand why would they use it and can you make sense out of their builds under few seconds
- depends on your playstyle, play the frame and weapon you liked
- communicate with your clan/alliance(NOT, help chat that opens for public.)
- Kenginer, Brozime, Tactical Potato are usually my go to builds to look at.
Detailed, doesn't yap a lot and sticks to the "story", and not overhyping the build.
- Sure I've said earlier that you should play the frame and weapon you liked but at least not clicking the clickbaits and/or watching the "meta" build, it almost engulfed me to not be more creative how I mod things both the frame, mods, subsume ability, archon shards, etc
