You clearly don't remember the U7 days when there was a fair amount of grumbling over the Braton Vandal back then only for it to completely disappear when the Braton Prime came out on U9.

It makes sense why Excal got it.

Excal Prime is more rare than you think. That's beacause Excalibur Umbra is just better, so Excalibur prime owners don't use it anyway.

It's pretty much exactly this. People have made it a business to get into contact with real Founders and acquire their accounts for the purpose of resale. These guys will outright tell you this too.

You're probably just not paying too much attention. I see them nearly everyday, or they at least have the glyph for excal prime on. It's rare, but not nearly that rare.

There are founders that quit the game sure, but we aren't dying in droves. We just don't rub it in your face until posts like this pops up, and got people saying founders are quitting en-mass, when they probably don't even know a single founder themselves personally.

Yep. My opinions are indeed "on me". And value is subjective, after supply and demand. Which was definitely changed with introducing umbra.

Because everyone else can get an excal with a scarf. With better abilities and prime mods. A situation which doesn't apply to any other warframe. Which makes it seem intentional. To devalue the excal prime. Because they could have used any other warframe model or name or made a new one. And they didn't. They chose the one warframe which had a gated prime.

honestly id used ExcalP more often if i could give him the semi-sentience of Umbra

awhile back DE hinted at being able to make other frames have the 'umbra' quality , not with a unique story like ExcalU , but just a system thru the Helminth , to awaken the frame itself ; sadly this got shelved/sidelined , would really luv to see this come back to the fore

I mean, it's not really a secret that Excalibur Umbra is meant to be Prime for people who weren't around for Founder's. Intentional to devalue Excal Prime? I doubt that, what would they have to gain from it? Intentional to make newer players feel better about not having a "prime" version of Excalibur? Yes.

Excalibur has been off the meta for years. Umbra being a step up power wise is a non issue tbh. Prime has always been a legacy item and its value is in its rarity. Umbra did not effect this.

That's kinda my point. Umbra was the excal prime refresh. They just didn't want to refresh an item only accessible by founder's. So they made a new excal prime and called it umbra. Now everyone has an excal prime refreshed. And the old excal prime is now permanently off the meta, doesn't get the model refresh. As such, it is devalued. Part of the rarity of excal prime is how it was obtained. The other part is that it was gated. Umbra means an exccal prime is obtainable by everyone and no longer gated. Rarity and value is lowered.

Happy to disagree on the value and rarity equation, however as you state excal prime is permanently off the meta, so as a warframe in warframe, it has decreased in value. No one values Yareli for similar reasons.
