Also, helminth can subsume abilities from "normal" version warframes, but not primes. It has to do with the fact that you can buy warframes with prime access and you can only pay that with real money. Meaning that you could potentially "accidentally" subsume (destroy) something you paid real money for and thats a no-no. They dont want to deal with that crap so they made you sacrifice regular versions only. Im sure they also got more reasons than this but to me this seems to be the most important one.
However what you might be thinking about with the "helminth for prime frames only" is because its the best choice ofcourse. Never has a prime frame been worse than regular, so the conclusion becomes obvious in that you should only use helminth abilities and archon shards on primes. There is no functional reason to choose regulars over primes. I say functional because one might want to use regulars for the looks and that is aesthetical, looks dont affect gameplay so that reason is not a functional one.
Edit: After reading the comments, especially the last before mine I feel like I should emphasize this again. There is no reason to use regular frames IF you have access to a prime one. And no, there are no "extremely small differences" between regular and prime, that guy is talking ♥♥♥♥. Ignore that comment, he doesnt know what he's talking about.
Fun fact btw: prime frames can (as far as I know) take the old look, so lets say you dont like the look of garuda prime but you do like garuda regular version look, you can copy her old look. Just change the skin as you would normally, the option is there.
What's the difference between IDK, let's say Harrow and Harrow prime? Go on, tell me. 1 polarity, 40 more energy and 185 more shields? Wow. What a massive, MASSIVE difference, oh my god.
Where do you people come from.
if you put shards on a normal frame, YOU NEED TO REMOVE SHARDS BEFORE SELLING OR HELMINTHING YOU WILL LOSE THE SHARDS IF YOU DONT REMOVE THEM
Well, if you are trying to min max, anything is good. Regular frames might be fine, but prime is undeniably better, even if slightly.
