My favourite dual pistols are Vipers and Gremlins. Both are fun to use but have very visible weaknesses (Vipers have the way too high rate of fire with low mag, not very high damage/accuracy and Gremlins are pretty balanced but don't have good enough stats for serious use).
If you're looking for high level-content duals pistols then AFAIK Akstiletto is the best choice.
Note though that these are based on my knowledge of the game (which by no means is perfect).
Akbolto is semi automatic while twin gremlings are automatic. Both are good.
You could try going for Lex Prime, and waiting for the possible (but in no way promised) dual-wield version of it, or maybe Akvasto/Akmagnus to trade power for more speed, or drop the dual-wield desire and grab a Marelok (or the Vaykor syndicate variant) and turn the game into a point-and-click adventure, where each click removes an enemy.
I must say that Akmagnus is interesting looking akimbo weapon. Discription kinda suggests that it would have a good stopping power. But I've been wrong before...
Edit: Akvastos looks interesting aswell.
So it would be a good idea to focus on damage, crit chance and crit damage when modding ?
So if you can aim and have.. lethal torrent and stability + some magazine increase. You can get a build for the aklex that beats heavily modded primary weapons. And it still has some ..19 shots, I think, with a 60% magazine increase. Which normally would be a waste of mod points.
Same thing (in reverse) with some of the automatic pistols, like the mirage weapon thing. Since it has a very high rate of fire, a low critical rate or status rate still fires often. So modding for higher ammo stock could be worth it over direct damage, even if that doesn't make sense immediately..
But it seems pretty obvious that pistols in Warframe have been left behind a bit. The vasto and magnus, for example.. probably not worth trying to level up, unless you mod for something very specific and know about whatever weakness you're getting on beforehand. Because they're difficult to handle, and are outmatched by auto-pistols anyway... at least at the level you're playing at when you gain access to them.
Why won't you love me ;-;
But seriously, man. I don't love you. That'd be creepy.
In fact, I'm just having a cup.
