Slam is about to be nerfed in the next big update after Techrot Encore. What do you think?
This news has been confirmed by Pablo. The nerf is being implemented due to a large amount of player feedback regarding repeated Slam usage. Also, The slam impact range will now be determined by height instead—for example, the higher the jump, the wider the impact.

Works for me. As far as I'm concerned, the slam radius is just a secondary effect of an aimed jump attack. The majority of a weapon's damage to a target should come not from the shockwave of it hitting the ground, but from its path through the entire length of an enemy's torso on its way there.

I had no idea people use slam attacks so much. I see mostly ability spam and guns and I barely see melee players use Slam attacks.
Yeah the slam stuff is really stupid…

I don’t really care how other people play their game, and I don’t play as much anymore, but when I do I keep queuing into specifically Wukongs who have the slam down to a science and play like robots slamming every room without a second to spare in the blink of an eye and it’s crazy.

It always looks so unfun to play. Genuinely the only time in years I’ve actively given up playing because you can’t keep up even with the “unfair one button clear room” Warframes like Saryn. Even with previous meta I could try to keep up at times.

They also out damage god above too which is crazy. Always 95% damage on steelpath after joining me midway through an exterminate mission, and most of my builds can practically one shot in steelpath…

I feel like making the slam radius be determined by height will only slow down slam spammers for a few seconds at most. Like you could just use wukong's cloud walker to quickly go up right after slamming or with gauss you can slam > animation cancel with mach rush > bullet jump up > repeat.

A better way to prevent slam spamming is to make consecutive slams deal 5% damage less each time until it only deals 25% damage

In the other words they would have to make more effort with the spam? I'm fine with that. I read from somebody that Wukongs can spam ground slam many times in a second with Cloud Walker ability. Sounds very ability abusive

Wukong can't use cloud walker after slammed anymore, it has 1.5 second delays.

Maybe you don't know but Wukong slam is only popular in Asia region, other regions rarely see Wukong slam.

well, DE always hate anything dealing large radius . I think when slam getting nerfed, people will return to use Throw Melee or hold E with Melee Influence, then it will join the old loop, if people use Melee Influence a lot then Melee Influence will also nerf. Same as Torid Incarnon, right now Torid has the most used primary weapons, If it still rising then It will be nerfed like other guns as well.

It still can, it just has a cd when used after a slam in cw. Combo became jum>slam>cw>slam>jump>slam>cw repeat. Some have even taken cw out of the equation and just use jump to animation cancel, only using cw as an "oh ♥♥♥♥" button or for mobility.

Not really. I have my ping limit set to the lowest it can be and I still play with people who spam slams. Generally as Wukong but I have seen other people who use different frames use it as well. The community knows that slams with certain melees is absolutely busted in terms of DPS and AoE.
It's kind of whatever because melee influence is what really pushes the damage and range apart. If it's just a height change, it basically scales with the situation anyway, with low ceiling hallways only realistically losing like a small arch and open areas will be pretty unaffected since slams are better for alpha strikes.

Baruuk will probably be the frame to watch whenever/if these changes come to fruition. He is/was already able to slam with the hatred of a thousand suns before arcanes are added to his fists. These proposed changes could either dumpster the build or make it even more terrifying, post-influence.
