I'm confused as to how they calculate it in-game and I'm hoping they just change it with how they made the Melee ones; just kills and kill assists.

I just assumed (projectiles fired) / (hits landed), which is also why multi-projectile shots can boost your "accuracy" to over 100%

You can also be very accurate and land all of your shots, but not make kills if other players finish them off for you

I remember when Drakgoon was released. You could reach over 12800% accuracy with it if all charged shots were headshots.

DE said they fixed this bug but it came as fast as it was it was fixed every now and then.
Accuracy is busted as hell and will always be. Shotguns get a % accuracy per pellet that hits, so with a high amount of multishot and some punch through you can get in the multi thousand % accuracy easily (even now). Any gun with just punch through can get hundreds of % because it hits multiple enemies, as do any AOE weapons.

All accuracy shows is how much your build uses cheese weapons, the more accuracy, the more likely you have some AOE build killing groups of enemies per shot.
