I guess the best thing about it is, its yours. everything in it, you did. It'll still be there when you come back to the game in 10 years too, assuming the game hasn't gone offline. Its like a walk down memory lane, I guess, from when you were way younger and struggling to get forma and resources just to build a forma. Hm.
why not to do it: you need forma for every room, even for 'energy rooms' to build power up. some neat decorations/things require forma, like trading post, ascension thing. You need to have much resources, it is a real resource dump. Also take it from me, a bit lonely. If one day I want to join a cool clan, I have to abandon my dojo but I can't because it'll cease to exist. I spent how long on it?? no refunds on ALL my forma and resources? ... A price too high.
mm building until you have a railjack station might be hard I guess.
Took a number of years but its been fully 'completed' and functional for years now, even got a few solo'd gold and platinum trophies from events... so yes, its completely doable solo.
Just takes time and commitment, not to mention being a Ghost Clan means the resource numbers you need are the lowest, some are still a grind but their not the insane values of larger clans... just dont bother with the Hema research, it nearly drove me literally insane from the grind, but it STILL took a good year on and off to do it lol.
If you start a solo clan you will have to invest a lot of hours into Warframe. Farming material and grinding the Forma you need for rooms will take time. In the end you will have a full research clan that you only enter to trade with other players.
If you plan to play for atleast a year consider the "solo challenge" but if you just want to look into warframe, search for clan to play in.
I have a fully researched solo clan, complete Hema and even the paint pigments, it's mostly fine. Especially now that the clan events are easy enough to accomplish solo for gold statues, compared to back then when they weren't adjusted to how many people were in clans.
The main benefit is that you get to build the clan however you like with the caveat that it's a pain in the ass resources together to build the more hardcore stuff you see in spotlight dojos. So unless your cool with either a basic to intermediately furnished but fully functional base or grinding a ton for supplies to make a mech or cyberpunk alley, then it's more of a pita than anything.
If you do end up making your own base, for the love of god, plan your base's layout. There are dependencies and limits at the beginning the can really screw up your overall vision. While there's no actual resources lost, there's still time involved.
Here's everything my clan cost me. I'm fully researched except for Hema, which I'm about 30% done with. I've decorated a little bit. The plat was because I got impatient during a rebuild, you don't have to spend any.

If you are happy to do it as a long term project (12-24 months) its not too bad (except for the hema).
It does take alot of resouces, but for a single ghost clan, its manageable, I have a founders account and played alot at the beginning. I had alot of resources already. Ran out of some things like plastids at the end though.
Once you have mastered everything a fully upgraded clan can offer than yeah I would suggest making your own clan.
I however, dont suggest sharing it with anyone else and that may sound selfish but....
I 100% fully funded everything lol, Im still on the color grind with only about half the colors unlocked, ive been working at this for over a year and a half. Just doing it when I can, not trying to grind with boosters.
Anyway, after youve been afk for 30 days, anyone can ask for ownership of the clan and very often they kick out the member, so youll never see your dojo again if that happens. In that situation, may just not be worth opening the clan up, I myself dont want to kick a bunch of members if say some kinda life event comes up.
Because of this it can be easy to build yourself into a corner with no real way to expand later on. In a solo clan you have no option but to pay plat yourself to rush or wait it out.
My suggestion is to build a cross road first and try build at least 3 power rooms early on. That'll give you enough power to build almost everything you'll need.
Getting all the basic labs/rooms built will take days/weeks of wait time. Once you do get the basic building up it can be cathartic to decorate outside of the constant killing, something you likely can't do in an invited clan. Very zen.
