only a bunch of cosmetics are paywalled so not pay to win.

also you can get the premium currency in game by playing and trading (without spending a single dime).

Ok and is this game 1999 where to start or is there some other game prior you recommend me starting at?

It depend of your conception of P2W. Since endgame is fashion and a bunch of them are locked behind a paywall you can consider that P2W. The rest is obtainable notmally but can take a huge amount of time depending on your luck.

1999 is the most recent content update and it's current "endgame" content so you won't have access to it immediately.

you don't need any other game prior to Warframe.

are you asking how to access the 1999 quest? If i remember correctly you need to finish duviri paradox and lotus eaters first in order to access it.

There is absolutely no competition what so ever in this game, it is not P2W at all.
It's a coop game in which you can play different things in different places, with veterans or not(you can even solo the game), everything is achievable it just depends on how much time you can invest and how much knowledge you have, outside of that, everything can be earned for free(except some cosmetics but who cares, it doesn't make you stronger).

And I would say it's a very good time to start the game even with the tremendous amount of content the game offers, you will always have something to discover!

What is p2w and what is considered "behind" are both subjective.

You can skip power progression at sub 50h to some degree by buying plat and using it right. It doesn't put you above more experienced crowd, but it puts on on the same level as people with 100-200h more. It's pretty much like buying a lvl boost in some MMO except not nearly as easy because you need to know how to spend, and you don't even skip any story.

we are past the days of pay to win being the issue. pay for convenience is what you have to keep away from. did i say pay for convenience i mean create problem sell solution and watch consumers argue for our right to rip them off.

The game is spread across many things, including trading, purchases for cash, purchases for plat (premium currency), mandatory gameplay, trading.....

This is intentionally designed this way so that players generate revenue but also can't buy their way to the top, otherwise players are not playing the game and DE wants that aswell, it's a carefull balance they mantain.

Certain things are purchase only (skins for example), certain things are market only (aka buyable for plat), certain things are gameplay only (no way to buy or trade for them), but most things are a mix of all of the above, meaning you have multiple ways to aquire them.

In general you can play, trade or buy the content, but like all things, it depends. There is no pay to win in this game

Actually, the term P2W is anything but subjective, it has a single fixed clear definition. I am not sure why people remain so hilariously uninformed about what the term really means. But since Warframe is purely a PVE focused game in every sense of the word, it would hardly matter regardless.

Because if they pretend it's subjective they can bash any game they want with it, to the point their definition now applies to literally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buying a game instead of pirating it, because hey, advantage by paying, the shoe is a coat but it fits, amirite?

PW2? no, you can call it P2F. ( Pay to fast ) but everything in the game can be earned just playing, even the premium currency ( platinum, you trade things for it ), only a few skins are with real money. ( tennogen ) and a % of that money goes to the creator of that skin.

Edit: you can start playing right away, is free and you don't need to worry to " catch us " because even vets has things to do, so only a few has everything this game has to offer, if u mean endgame things, dont worry about it, you will be doing in a short time, just focus on enjoying the game and don't forget to do your adventures :)

It is subjective and even in the case it isn't wasn't what someone considers p2w is still entirely subjective.
