Why do some mods say "IDENTIFIED"?

I know for spy missions when you open caches it will say identified to indicate what you got from the cache.

On the reward screen? I believe those are mods gotten as a reward via Spy missions, or other missions(If there are any) where you get a 'random' item for success. 'Identified' simply means that it was an item you got from those rewards, to distinguish it from mods that you've looted from enemies and other sources of goodies.

Only spy, void sabotage and certain Earth missions have these cache which will yield those in the reward screen.
