I literally avoid doing that hence even now I edited this message instead of making another reply. Responding to top thread is as far from bumping as you can get.
because half of the steam reviews are ♥♥♥♥ post or don't give enough detail.
Many of the long-standing issues got addressed and fixed (enemy health/armor/shield scaling with level, many status effects like blast being useless, companions being loot vacuums and useless for much else, etc.), and some very good story content has been released. They've even added some secret hard mode bosses now.
There are still some issues left, like Railjack (the spaceship combat mode) feeling like a puddle of content rather than connected to the main game, among others - but overall, it's definitely improved in many ways over time.
Wait, enemy health, shields, and armor don't scale with level anymore?
They do, but in a more sensible scaling way. Together with the status rework, it made several different damage types viable, and made how enemies scaled defenses with level make more sense.
Oh. Is that why they are so much less spongey than I remember? I used to avoid steel path because I couldn't kill anything no matter what mod combo I used. I used to take my vectis to them because it was the only weapon that could kill anything if I shot enemies in the head three times on earth.
Basically, yes.
For best results on SP, you'll want the Galvanized mods that you can earn from doing Arbitration missions. You'll eventually want all of them, but get the Multishot mods first.
The next part, the Primary/Secondary Merciless/Deadhead arcanes, you can get from doing low-level SP survival missions, and killing the Acolytes. There are definitely other arcanes to get, but you want full stacks of Merciless and Deadhead for both Primary and Secondary weapons as a mainstay for most builds.
The reason for this is basically to drop Serration/Hornet Strike/Point Blank from your builds entirely for SP. This is basically because the base damage boosts you get from Merciless/Deadhead are greater than the total value of mods like Serration. Even if you have to get a kill or two to ramp up their effects first.
Coupled with the on-kill effects you get from Galvanized mods, and after the first kill or two you're cruising.
Adding at least one ele combo on your weapon helps tremendously for damage as well, because elemental damage is based on the base damage of the weapon - which scales with Serration, as well as Merciless/Deadhead. It's normally best practice (unless you have a Riven) to include on ele combo, and one additional ele mod. Corrosive (electric + toxic) and Heat are good against Grineer, as are Magnetic (cold + electric) and Toxin against Corpus.
A common build I use for rifles on SP is Galvanized Chamber, Critical Delay (or Point Strike), Vital Sense, (Primed) Shred, Galvanized Aptitude (to ramp up damage based on status effects), and then three 60/60 elemental mods. Exilus mod I usually use is Vigilante Supplies, or the Ammo Conversion mod if you don't have it.
Sahasa (or Carrier) definitely works for extra ammo.
I've been running with a Huras lately, because I made a build for one that makes it hilariously horrifying.
