Archon shard fusing question

i just wanted to double check if im trying to make alot of Tau forged TOPAZ ( orange fused shard ) does it matter which way i go about it? EX: Ascend 3 Crimson / 3 amber into TAU forged then combine them into Topaz or make 3 topaz first then ascend it? is one way more efficient i just want to double check before i make like 5 for the first time. i made a chart but i just want to double check and searching online was useless. thanks.

It doesn't matter but ascending then combining is faster.

Ascending then combining is 3 operations (Ascend twice and combine) vs the 4 with combining and then ascending (combine three times and then ascend). With the stella cost being the same (100+100+50 vs 50+50+50+100).
