mastery rank weapons
so saw this from handful of reddit posts but does the mastery rank of weapon or similar determine how good/powerful it is?
currently mr 17 and got all main rep groups (except cavia, not fan of it so halted on 3) to 5. side/after rep groups like vox not max yet. so this point on what should i be prioritizing on weapon wise?

No, mastery rank doesn't dictate anything to do with strength of the weapon. There are both good and bad weapons throughout the entire range of mastery ranks.

Mastery Rank requirements of weapons is more to do with the expected progression you would/should be at for the weapon to be obtained.

Just for instance I'm currently levelling a regular Boltor now when I've got the Prime counterpart years ago, but I'm doing it for the MR (masters rank) fodder while at the same time amusing myself by doing a current NightWave's "Bounty" to Kills 150 foes with electrical dmg.
And at the same time I'm finally levelling my Bronco Prime to immediately then do the respective Akbronco Prime because rarely enjoyed Shotguns and even less while being a 2nd weapon.

Although you can creative thinking with low MR weapons like for ex., the Zenith and its passível Effect. Play it using and Ivara with a Hush mod' inside it and also being along your Huras or Sunika Kubrows while they're also carrying the Tenacious Bond mod' because their Claws usually have way more than 50% Crit' Chance. Then get into a decently high level or a Simple Sanctuary Onslaught test it. Start Ivara's Prowl when nearing a cluster of foes and then start using the Zenith's passive to do infinitelly ranged headshots through walls. It'll assuredly be a laughing riot experiment in the very least.

there are no bad weapons in this game, every weapon if not duplicating another effect is quite unique inits own way and when forma'ed and modded right......they all become lethal. look at the mods....choose wisely. Maybe that's not an issue when you've been playing for a long time and have everything maxed out...I do mean everything...whew that grind.

not true my orthos is built in such a way that it deals same dps in same time frame as some of the top tier mele weapons as far as opinion. its more about mods than weapon

Unless it's a mark 1 weapons then nah, not really. And apparently you can make even Mark 1 useful up until certain point, with a lot of resources poured into it, but still. Like the dude above said, it's more about mods than weapons. Base stats determine how good of a platform for mods it is. Find something you like, even if just stylistically, look up how it works and see if it fits your preference. Maybe you prefer full auto, or burst, or laser, etc. Look up if it has incarnon mode or alt fire, see if you like the base stats. I'm at the point now where i'm looking for an alternative, less ammo hungry primary than my current Acceltra Prime. I liked Stahlta and its Unreal Tournament skin, AX-52 has cool mod from nightwave and is a pretty good weapon, Vesper-77 seems like a viable secondary as well, new Scaldra AK with innate corrosive looks interesting too, so i farmed all of these and i'm going to try them all out, starting with Stahlta. Once i craft enough Forma, lol. I've got more weapons to try in mind but these were the easiest to get for now.

generally speaking, MR doesn't dictate how strong a weapon is, but as powercreep exists you can sorta expect for the most part that stronger weapons will require higher MR (above 10) as they are being added in later points of the game. so i think if you are around MR 14/15 you have access to most of the easiest to mod for and strongest weapons

a lot of good incarnons don't require a higher MR weapon either, but almost all do require steel path
most tenet and all kuva weapons can be obtained with a low MR as long as you are capable of dealing with sisters/liches as their drops bypass the MR requirements
all of the confusing power makes more sense if you consider when those weapons came out.
later ones often had to have some gimmick.
orthos prime wa nerfed af 4 yrs b4 DE stepped in and buffed it up hard.
3ssentially when a dev wanted its baby to become liked by the audience the played fast and loose with balancing .
when they had to slap some weps on to some content they were working on an ran outa time?
yea. that too makes sense when i look at some stuff .
