Warframe
1999
Am I the only one who thinks 1999 was very underwhelming?
I set aside a day to play the 1999 or Kalymos or whatever it's called expansion. And I went into it expecting more than 1 1/2 hr of gameplay, and by the end I just kind of sat there like 'that's it?' It's just another syndicate to grind? I was thinking there would be a main mission and some side quests to unlock some cosmetics for the warframes through just playing, not grinding the syndicate. (Keep in mind I haven't done any syndicate work yet, just looked around.) So I was like, great another dormizone, a syndicate to grind for a Frame and then that's it? Yes they progressed the story, and yes I understand it's F2P, but this was so hyped, I feel it was almost over advertised.
Is this just some stupid dating sim?

What did you think this was going to be? It was another expansion with a new alternating map, new enemy factions, cosmetics, new syndicate and a little dating sim side thing as well as the pvpve. Not to mention new weapons and arcanes.

There was supposed to be the new lich enemies, but they decided to separate it from the main 1999 update to not have to delay the entire thing.

Also there is a different ending if you gain friendship with all 6 characters. Thats when you get the real ending for the quest, not when they give you the "quest completed" screen.

hex standing isnt even that hard to get

This did kinda disappoint me.... now I didn't expect a Fortuna or Quills kidna grind for the rep; let's be clear.... but I maxed out the faction in some 3 days of casual play and with the arcane crate in the mission, Cyte-09 drops from same missions, there isn't even anything interesting to get for leftover faction rep other than metronome sounds and weapon skin....

Now if I could play said music whilst playing (Dang DE how are you STILL missing out on this) or the skins would add a flourish (nothing gamechanging) to the weapons they're applied to it might be more worth it for me to play those missions even after maxxing out the standing...

But as is.... it was a fun little adventure but the new expansion basically comes down to a new frame. The rest you'll prolly never see during regular play.
It's going to be another one of those areas you grind for everything and then never touch again just like Archwing, Necramech, and a Venus and Earth open worlds for that sweet relic packs.

Maybe I'm just running out of content then because the only reason I grind relic packs for is the chance to get extra aya for unvaulting events.... and even those are starting to reach the "ah; right, already have all of it"

I can't wait for the new lich mechanic
While I can't say you were the only one, I can say that I for sure wasn't at all disappointed.

- New tileset
- 2 new enemy factions
- A relationship/romance system
- Lore drops from above system to make it very much worth investing in
- An amazing looking new home base
- New iteration on Survival
- Around 1 hr 20 mins of the first part of The Hex quest and 15 mins for the second to total of 1hr35mins
- Said Hex quest is some of the best storytelling so far moving fully into high scifi concepts
- 2 new weapons, 1 new frame
- 12+ new songs

Like I don't know what you were expecting, but 1999 for me is amazing and I hope its the blueprint going forward. As well as them continuing to advance the 1999 world, since everyone else I've run across is loving it

No, actually its been stated that as long as there's interest shown in it that it can be expanded and the team seems very excited about the notion of getting to expand on it; because they actually y'know really like working on this type of content. There's already the Lich expansion to come and everything I'm seeing is people shouting praises towards 1999, suggesting that it'll clear whatever threshold to justify expanding on it.

"2 new enemy factions", bro they are reskin infested and grineer.

The fact you have to talk to the characters on the pc to rank up standing is beyond dumb, and whoever enjoys the romance system is a freak straight up.
They did seem to build it up a lot for what has shipped, but that's marketing for you.
Basic Warframe quest with some grind for the finale, not too egregious. The new tileset looks nice and the new mods are okay. The new arcanes have some real potential and the Atomicycle being available for all missions is pretty nice.

Nothing really game changing here but it's something new to grind. If they start making omnia fissures with the new tileset, I'll be satisfied.

EDIT: The Hex override system is cool, hope they put a similar system outside of 1999

Dialogue and conversations with NPCs in videogames isn't really new, though I see it mainly in RPG games like Baldur's Gate.

As for getting freaky, you must be new to the WF community

They actually aren't as Scaldra units pack way more punch with their viral, gas, and toxin than Grineer; have APC's w/ mounted turret; a full-blown tank; the meaty bubbleheads; etc. If anything they're an upgraded grineer faction. The techrot are far more aggressive, far more Eximus heavy, far more tanky than standard Infested, the infested tank actually requires you to keep an on things during its fight, and so are basically upgraded Infested faction. Both carrying their own unique designs to further make them their own. No, you're not going to get some Mass Effect Husk or Resident Evil Hunter or whatever else. Whether you want to accept it or not they ARE two new enemy factions with their own attributes.

Um no actually if you bothered to pay attention to the story you'd know its actually really not. Also let's be clear since I'm not even sure you've played what you're complaining about or you're just bad at wording: PC chatting has nothing to do with standing outside of Rank 3 -> 4, where you need to be liked status to unlock the finale. Which fully makes sense given what the story is and why things happen the way they do in it. That's game-play/story integration and the standing isn't remotely that bad. Hell it even involves them pulling in Duviri elements, instead of leaving them be in their own section of the world. I'm already close to Rank 5 and its only been maybe a week for me. Regardless it fully fits and makes sense given the story.

Also no, I'm someone that is thoroughly enjoying the romance or rather KIM chat system overall as it gives 1999 world lore, Hex character lore, allows for more Drifter customization, overall WF lore even canonizing certain fanons, and on top of that offers a romance option. Its easily one of my fav added features in all of my 10+ years of playing this game, because of its RPG nature as well as being a natural expansion on the Drifter. I've yet to see something in that system that doesn't fit the character personalities and I don't at all mind "freak" aspect, nor do a lot of others given the responses I've seen to both Eleanor and now Lettie. Which let me say good on the writers for letting femmes be their full-on sex positive selves, rather than trying to act like they're shy purity maidens. While overall its given more solid characterization for the Hex than all the rest of the characters in the entirety of the game, except for Lotus.

Have you actually fought them???
the biggest issue is that there is not a single endgame mission worth farming in 1999. Void cascade and EDA are worth doing, endless capture is pointless. Faceoff is pointless as it gives mediocre rewards
