Back when coptering was still a thing (which was only changed within the past month), "best" melee weapons were whichever ones could give you the most distance, with polearms and staffs being among the best, and Orthos P just happening to have the best damage distribution among those.

In my opinion it is the best melee in the game.

Now it's all about personal preference and/or Highest Damage in the Shortest Time, or just go for Utility.

Personally, I use the Kestrel a lot - if you mod for minimal bounces/ricochets and maximum flight speed, you'll kill high-order Nullifiers through their shields with a toss and ALWAYS knock down anything else. No, you won't insta-kill all your foes as soon as you look at them, but you instead give yourself lots of breathing room.
