Free Voice Chat for Warframe Players

Hello Tenno,

Recently I have come across an app called DiscordApp while looking for a new and better free platform for clan communications and so far it works very well for what it claims to do.

Discord is a free App and is available on nearly all platforms (Windows, OSX, Android, iOS) and can also be used in the browser. It is soon coming to Linux and other platforms.

It offers a free voice and text-based communications app primarily geared towards gamers. You can have text and voice channels. You can create a server for free and have unlimited slots without paying a penny. The company plans to offer sound packs, stickers, and other cosmetics to make money in the future.

I highly recommend Discord over other voice platforms, so clans can save money and time. It's also easier to get your users using something that does not require a download. We created a server not only for our clan, but for other clans that want to test out the service before implementing their own server and for randoms who want to squad up.

You do realize that pretty much anyone can set up a TS server for free right? I think you can even get a non profit license, again for free just have to apply for one, if you need more slots than you are currently using by hosting your own server.

Hosting the server is not free unless you're hosting it yourself at home, in which case you don't have IP protection and if you ever have a power outage your server is down.

You can't use in-game chat unless you are in a squad. This is not exactly ideal for clans, where you may want to talk to people who are in the clan but not in the squad or raid groupo.

If you already have your preferred communication software, that's fine. Some people will prefer ts3, skype, mumble, etc. This is just a free alternative that some clans may find useful.

Well you can go on twitter to see if I'm the only person who finds it useful. You can join the /r/dota2 , league of legends, and official final fantasy servers and see that other game communities are switching over. I haven't seen many people talking about it in the warframe community so just thought I would share it here. This app was released this year so not many people know about it. I didn't know some people in this community could be so close-minded, but we are already seeing more and more people join our server, so I guess not everyone is as close-minded as you are. If you don't find it useful, that's okay. Most people in warframe don't use voice chat, I mean it's not required for a game like this. But it's definitely more fun playing warframe with friends and meeting new people than playing by yourself. At least for me it is.
