Ember Vs Zephyr: Battle of The AOE
So I am trying to decide if I should take up Ember or Zephyr for basic farming missions. If I take Ember and just bump her heat abilities to max and only do infected missions, I can last quite a while doing pretty significant damage over time. If I use Zephyr in comination with a maxed Heavy Impact, Dive Bomb would do an exorbant more amount of damage and I can use it in more missions other than infected. Which of the two should I create?

Ember wipes any mission not just infested based nodes. Only issue are nullifiers and...thats it. Everything else dies or becomes CCed until they die 3 seconds later.

Yes its not the fanciest damage type, but the damage she gets ticks more than once a second, and when you hit like 1k on the damage, it also hits about 90 or 92% chance to proc. It accumulates.

if its still not enough, at that level, her accelerant is upping your damage by 6x.

-Ember scales ok into most missions regardless of faction because of accelerant stun and fire damage debuff. Knockdown mod helps too for world on fire.

-Zephyr works well vs most factions except infested. Build her based on this: https://www.youtube.com/user/Sordats [look in Fun challenges/setups -> warframe overpowered zephyr boom squad]. I think mogamu might have something similar with possibly more math/power str cut off. Though I usually play MUCH more mobile than either did using the tailwind and orbital bombarding w/tonkor.

I'd take Ember for anything that includes killing a lot of stuff in a short period of time.

Thank you all this is effective.

Ember is a effective frame when dealing with infested and knockdown mods will help for her world on fire ability.
I say use Ember.

Well many other factors have to be taken into account here but Ember has better aoe damage output than zeyphr (world on fire, fire blast, and buff of accelrant) while zephyr only has her dive bomb which may require setup and her ultimate doesnt kill reliably late game.

Another thing to note is weapon combinations. WIth the ember rework and ignis rework the combo is very enjoyable to use and can sustain good aoe coverage longer by popping accelerant and sweeping away with the ignis flamethrower (mod for extra range for larger aoe).

Same can be said about Zephyr + tonkor with Zephyr offering more survivability but requires augment mods to obtain direct hit tonkor.

And i know this just pertains those 2 frames but if your looking for more aoe frame options and depending on what your farming for Vortex Vauban + any explosive or aoe weapon is good plus resources are pulled into one location. Spore Saryn built for range and damage can cover the entire map and slowly kill since her rework and buffs. Maim Equinox (fact check please dunno what DE did to her) can also kill infested and anything weak to slash damage types by just walking around. Chroma's ultimate increases credit drop chance if built for it, and Mirage can make quick work with anything + has a stun. Excalibur,Ash, and Oberon can reliable kill in a large aoe. Nova with her Speed M-Prime can get mobs to you quickly and they take double damage and set off large Aoe chain reaction if done right.

Hope I helped ya enjoy and good luck~

Ember is very much specialused in dealing AOE (WOF) and Zephyr is does a great job with CC. She works great on anything other then infested and her CC skills are pretty impressive, with divebomb vortex (sucks enemies within ** m towards Zephyr) and heavy impact (ragdolls or stuns everything that dares to stand in range) nothing can stand still against her.

And then I come in with max range Saryn.

I prefer Ember really as she's the easiest AoE "Mage" Frame to set up. She has 2 Polarity Slots (Not sure on her Prime Version) That lets you easily put in Streamline & Flow to let you extend her Energy Pool/Usage.

The Other Day I was able to last a whole 30 minutes solo in a Survival. Only had to go extraction as I ran out of Energy Restores & well I had maxed out the equipment I brought along.
