Blueprints shows you the requirements to craft.
Get the requirements, and craft it?

You're like asking what do you do with a recipe...

but what about war frames

Here's how blueprint system for making regular or Prime warframes - you get a blueprint, then you go to the place where that warframe drops and farm it. You get blueprints for parts - you build them in your Foundry and blueprint is consumed in the process. Then, you combine those parts using main warframe blueprint into a full thing and use it.

Blueprints for weapons work almost the same way, but with some exceptions. Most weapons in the game do not require any parts, you just get blueprint and build them. However, Prime weapons and weapons dropped from Sorties come in parts, so you gather those parts and combine them using main blueprint.

That's about it.
Here's an example. Let's say you want to make Excalibur.

According to his page on the Warframe wiki[warframe.wikia.com], the blueprints for his components drop from Ambulas, the boss on Pluto (just as well you can select this guy as a starting 'frame, huh? :P ). Every time I complete the mission to kill Ambulas, I will recieve the blueprint for one of the three components needed to build Excalibur. Which one I get is random, though, so I could end up having to fight Ambulas a lot if the RNG keeps giving me duplicates of blueprints I already have.

Once I have all three blueprints - for the Helmet, Chassis and Systems - I go to the Foundry in my ship (just to the right as you go down the ramp from the cockpit) and over to the Warframe tab (has an icon shaped like Excalibur's helmet) and look at the resources needed to build them. Once I have all of those resources, I can start construction on the components. Each one will take 12 hours to build unless I feel like spending platinum to instantly build them.

Finally; once I have all three components built, I buy the Excalibur Blueprint from the Market for 35,000 credits, find myself the last component needed (an Orokin Cell, they usually drop from bosses) and I can then use the Excalibur Blueprint in the Foundry to assemble the components into a brand-new Excalibur Warframe. Assembling the 'frame itself will take 3 days.

For Prime warframes, you'll generally find their components as completed items, rather than blueprints.

I'd say, you should read a guide. I might know a guy who wrote a good one:
