Point of Magistar?
Hi all,it's been 1 week and half i'm playing Warframe and there's really a lot of weapon variety, now every weapon is either faster/slower,has status bonuses or better stats in certain fields.

I've been comparing the Magistar and read the Wiki for it as a heavy weapon...and turns out it has lowest damage of them all and also slow as f uck.

So my quenstion is,what were the developers thinking when putting this weapon in the game? Why would i want to pick it up over a Jat Kittag or a Fragor? Also why those have more slash than a flanged mace?

That`s the thing, you don`t. Magistar is REALLY bad, it`s nothing but a mastery fodder. Jat Kittag is, IMO, the best hammer, if you find it too slow just put a berserker mod since it has good critical chance and you`re done.

Point of Magistar is to cosplay as Sauron. That's about the limit of it's practical use, as currently it is, as you noticed, one of the weakest maces in the game.

They were thinking about people like you who need to ask dumb questions.

You claim to know about the game but dont realize that there isnt enough stuff in game to level to 20 without affinity accelerators. It's a throw away or a cosmetic. You choose. But it's main purpose, as with many things including Oberon, is to level up for MR

Actually, this thread reminds me of something - I still haven't sold my Magistar and it's taking place in my inventory, being pretty, but fairly unusable, so thank to OP I will stop wasting plat on new slots now.

Maybe it will be good when they put out Magister Prime. It was the first mace weapon to look like an actual mace. Fragor has always looked more like a blunt axe

If comparing in-game weapons and reading the wiki is "claiming to know about the game" then i don't know what to tell you.

Also you're telling me devs make random weapons just to let people achieve rank 20,i'm sure that's their vision.

Last but not least,if you have to be an a ss you can avoid giving stupid replies at all you know.

Actually Magister was one of the earlier weapons back when charge attacks were first in the game and before stances. It may have been viable at that time with faster speed/charge or something back then, but was pretty much forgotten once melee 2.0 rolled in. It's just one of those weapons they never properly converted for the new system.

Nah, it wasn't very good even back then. Galatine was all the rage, alongside Jat Kittag, as usual. Magistar was kinda an underdog even during the period of it's initial release that kinda says a lot about a weapon.

It wasn't the best, but that was because they were still trying to keep to a "side grades" only approach, but it was still viable. I remember after melee 2.0 its stats became a complete joke.

Point? It's a mace, it doesn't have a point.
Really, it's just an old weapon that everybody forgot about, and subsequently its never been buffed or rebalanced.

It'd be nice if they would at least give it a speed buff. It will probably just fade into the darkness... some more...

I'm actually kind of surprised that they haven't done any one handed or mace n' shield weapons.

I want one handed spear/shield. It always was one of my favourite combinations in all of the games. Tera, for example, executed it magnificently.
