Each school has a different main power. These powers can be augmented by other bonuses in that school.

For example:
I chose Naramon, my first power is Mind Spike. It makes me release surges of power that stun enemies and occasionally puts a radiation(?) proc on them. I can further augment this power to make me invisible for a period of time or increase crit chance.

There are 5 Schools:

Unairu (Survival and Defense)

Madurai (Damage)

Naramon (Melee)

Zenurik (Energy and Efficiency)

Vazarin (Healing)

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Focus This page might clear the situation a bit for you. Yes, you can change your school, for a hefty price of 50,000 mind-shekels and by installing another school's lens into your weapon/frame of choice.

"mind shekels" has to be one of the best things I've read all day xD

I went with Zenurik myself as it sounded interesting. Turns out it may be better on my mesa than some of the others, keeping enemies immobilised while I gun them down. Energy regen could help use it more often too. I do wish there were a little more info about what each school actually gives you in terms of play, before choosing though. Might have gone with Unairu or Madurai instead then.

Tell me that. I went with Naramon on my Nyx, before realizing that by doing so I'm actually giving my Nyx (queen of CC) pretty much exact same form of Chaos she already has, but somewhat weaker and with a longer cooldown. Smart idea would probably be to go healing or offensive route, seeing as she already is a CC frame, but I guess half the taste for me is trying out new stuff myself, instead of reading it in the wiki.

Naramon is definitely great for melee-centric players.

If you love Valkyr, Naramon is definitely the school for you.

It's kinda funny how I picked the school that not only almost completely mimics my main CC ability (Chaos) but also incentivizes a caster type frame with low defensive base stats to go say hello in melee.

I guess I became a Mesmer. I... probably will switch tomorrow to something more suiting.

ive installed my lens of namaron on my dragon nikana, in battle there's a circle thingie and i would like to know if that was the actual mind spike that i could use, but, how can i use it
Vulbjorn Dec 4, 2015 @ 12:28pm
The circle thingy next to your abilities? It's your Focus form, wait till it fully charges and press 5 - it will literally unleash your inner child. So yes, it is actual mind spike.
Yuen Dec 4, 2015 @ 12:28pm
Naramon is definitely for melee types and for cloakers I can say that.

You'll notice a new icon guage on the bottom right that will fill up and when it's filled hit number 5 and you'll use your skill.
