Sure.
The economy of the game works with players deciding, themselves, what the item prices are worth. No item has a set price by the devs, so anything could go any price. You can find some great deals, or seriously "overpay" for something that is usually sold cheaper.
There's a trading post you can make in your dojo (Since you're new, I reccomend joining a clan that has this) that you can invite people over from the trade chat into your dojo so you can commence the trade.
Note that you have to be MR 2 to be able to trade, and your starting Platnium cannot be traded.
Ah. Well, I haven't focused on buying the item, nor have I noticed if the offers were common.
