They're functionally a kubrow with access to robotic mods (but no access to beast claw mods), whose companion abilities all (can) deal damage of some sort in a broad area.

As others have said, the main use for them is priming, via Manifold Bond + Momentous. They're able to hit a broader array of status effects than a normal sentinel can; once you start killing eximus units.

Afaik, most people run Synergized Prospectus, Null Audit, and Reflex Denial. They all can spread status decently. Diversified denial is a trap. Don't use it.
From there it's mildly up to each player. Contagious Bond, if you want it. Building for survivability. Calculated Redirection + Reinforced Bond for fire rate. Vacuum + Animal Instinct for loots. Seismic Bond. Guardian. Maybe Mystic?

They aren't bad. But there's definitely better.

Viral Quills has much stronger viral apply than Synergized Prospectus because it works like Saryn's spore so if they pop or the enemy dies then quills spores spread. This means that you have viral on enemies even if your companion doesn't attack your target so you can kill much faster. With Synergized Prospectus statuses spread after initial application only if you use Contagious Bond and hound gets the last hit which doesn't happen often. Hunter Recovery also provides way more consistent healing with Viral Quills than with Synergized Prospectus.
