The game warned you it'll take a while, it'll be like 6 hours tops. If you really can't hold through that hot minute, you can ask support to cancel the quest.

It is very long yes, but just hang in there you just gotta do it one time and it opens up some content. + it is just a fraction of the time you already spend in the game

Support doesn't usually cancel this quest for players because the player made an active agreement before starting it by confirming in game.

What exactly does new war open in game after completing it?

I have 170 hours and I enjoy game, been delaying New War for about 80 hours now

New War unlocks many other zones/factions/syndicates/frames/weapons and gear, but also moving forward with the story in those areas. You can't play the 1999 update without playing New War as far as I'm aware. After The New War there's Angels of the Zariman Whispers in the Walls and Veilbreaker that give unique new areas and story complete with new NPCs and factions and gear which you cannot get otherwise. Upcoming update is linked to Whispers in the Walls quest so I'm assuming that is a required quest to play through. In fact the teaser quest for 1999 The Lotus Eaters takes place in the same area as Whispers in the Walls.

i dont know everything it unlocks because it was too long ago, but it is needed for the zariman quest that gives you alot of stuff including incarnon weapons that are really strong and the Whispers in the wall quest which unlocks the current endgame stuff

best to finish it just endure it

is it worth finishing it?
Yes

because it will unlock a lot of things for your to explore and new content

the fact you have a thousand hours of play time you should just endure it if you want to access the new content coming this December

I did it on New Year's Eve and I was super sloshed. Great experience.

I took about 3-4 hours the first time, second time I played not long after the first time since I wanted to try the Archons in a different order. Took only 2 hours to complete. The part I enjoyed the least was the Teshin part because of how slow that area is and the abilities are color coded and I'm colorblind. The narmer veil dudes and the stealth area are a close second for least enjoyable. Of course Veilbreaker has those things as well, so I've played that as little as possible.

Luckily i dont have the colorblind problem so the stealth section is the worst thing for me, but that is just because i suck at that. the rest of the quest is fairly easy and the story is just great

You can brute force the most annoying stealth parts by just running I believe. I saw a video on it and I was like waitaminute... zooom. But yea, get spotted and reset. It's not really fun. Enemies that have an "I win" button are no fun.

I really did not like the Teshin part and when I played it it would also bug out where the enemy would fall off the map. I got good at that section though by skipping past most enemies and just rushing everything else. The Teshin part can be done in 10 minutes easy.

It's worth pushing through, you will unlock a lot of content through quests.
