This is just too extreme honestly... I think normal conversation between people is fine. Been doing that for years... since I first started playing in 2015 and have not been banned ever. But I don't use Region chat or Q&A chat at all... they're just a cesspool anyway. But I've been interacting with people in missions and while trading and haven't had any issues.. yet. Just don't be a jackass and you won't get banned. People who claim they get banned "for no reason man," did or said something horrible to warrant that ban 99% of the time.
Their TOS indicate that you don't even own your account and they can do whatever they see fit with it.
So if you play , you will be playing on their rules . Your opinion on their rules is irrelevant
But w/e I'm done here, feel free to quote my post and launch another white knight rebuttal, but don't expect any further replies.
How are people in chat getting tricked into saying bannable slurs?
If you write something in chat you know what you're writing.
Every post on the forums about being banned because of region chat has been some Schrodinger's butthole posting a racist or homophobic dog whistle and then crying about the repercussions.
Actually, their staunch opposition to it is likely what contributed to it being a meme.
The mod in question actually went on a rant after 'quitting' (presumed fired by the community). It was explicit enough that I'm probably not allowed to repeat it here. A very generous paraphrasing of it was:
'I know everyone in the warframe subreddit are transphobes or child predators, so I'm going to watch you all closely in chat and ensure you all get reported'.
As a glimpe into the tone and how much I cleaned up the rant, they ended it with the statement:
"CUZ IT'S PERSONAL NOW, ♥♥♥♥♥".
Yes, in caps. The entire rant was in caps.
A less explicit statement from our fair and unbiased moderator:
"I AM GOING TO MAKE EVERYONE'S CHAT LIVES ABSOLUTELY HELL, AND NOW I CAN GET AWAY WITH IT".
Seriously, moderator history is not good with warframe. People really ought to do some research on it, because it was pretty bad.
The people who were banned may or may not have deserved it, but me personally I just don't want to take the risk. It reminds me of what Minecraft did with their chat reporting that could get your account permabanned from multiplayer period. People either abused the system or just didn't chat period.
It's not that everyone who opposed the moderation wants to be able to say harmful BS. It's the fact that it's become so heavy handed people aren't sure what can get you banned and what can't. At some point it just ends up not being worth it, because why risk your account over a stupid joke?
I must confess, I use ingame chat to say things like "hi! I want to buy this mod for X platinum (from this site)" and then "thank you!", also when I play with people I can say "I'm going to extraction" and "gg". Hope these don't lose their meaning soon as, well, other phrases did recently. You almost can't talk anymore, unlike in 2014.
DE is Canadian. They're not under the same S&P department to badger them.
If this were SEGA, there would probably already be filters against the word vote.
Pretty interesting how a rear can be censored despite that being part of a real name.
It's almost like they're missing an Age-Gate label for chat...
11 years of using the chat without filtering myself whatsoever, still not banned.
