You should also wait till you get a % off coupon from a daily log in bonus. It will double or more your plat for the same $ put in. I think they can get up to 75% off.
If you llike the defensive abilities of Volt, try Rhino or Frost maybe. I love Volt's shield and Frost feels like a direct upgrade from that. Rhino is pretty easy to get, he's in one of the earlier level planets.
Yeah you're right... if they're only purchasable once might as well wait for discount :D
wow so detailed explanation.. u must be a high level player. Thanks! Will take note for sure ^_^

Next big steam sales is during Summer around June... hahaha hope i have the patience to wait for the sales... really really wanna get my hands dirty on some other frame that I don't have now. On the mean time will try grind it out... I'm still so early in the game it sucks.. lol
i chose Volt as my first frame. He's kinda squishy tho.
I just started warframe last night (only 20mins due to fullscreen CTD bug), then today I played 2nd mission eg pickup ship part on Earth.
On 1st mission eg tutorial i picked Volt also and weapons i picked
sword -skana a pistol and the bow and arrow
- was great choices as the
sword/skana does block using right click and i can sneak up and stealth assassinate,
the pistol is my go-to quick weapon for ranged and close quarters when im mobbed by multi enemy and then
the bow and arrow is my lazy ranged long distance killing weapon to keep me safe away from enemy.
This all worked out great choices and im liking Volt and the weapon choices a lot - i would go as far as saying i wont want another frame for a long time.
Also Volt has number 1 on keyboard shock ability which i keep forgetting to use as well. Not sure what else i would need really.

Yes... high level *shifty eyes*.
When we say wait for % of on platinum, we mean as a daily login reward. You randomly get up to 75% off though thats rare. Ussually you get 50% or 25% off.
I would reccomend grinding one of the easier frames like valkyr or rhino. They are useful in almost all missions and will take through and past lategame easily. They don't require much forma to be useful either.
Nyx is a good frame for soloing, but teamates will just kill the enmies you have frenzied before they can help you.
I would say that you shouldn't buy plat until you finished the second dream quest. By then you should have enough expereince to make an informed decision.
oh and of course check the wiki out, its got all the information you will ever need (the devs forgot to put in the game).
Can't deny anything about Broken War though, it's a fact that it is the best longsword in the game.
just found this guide.. gonna buy 1 or 2 S rated frames just to test things out .. hope he's accurate with his rating.
You're better off grabbing something more well-rounded that doesn't require the best mods to at least do well, like Rhino, Excalibur, Frost, or Mirage.
guess i'll try Frost or Mirage first..
There's a thread as to why it's not worth buying Frames outright @@ IT COSTS HALF AS MUCH TO BUY MATERIALS INSTEAD? even if using plats??
https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/223209-what-is-good-to-buy-in-the-shop-with-platinum-for-begginer/
i'd be careful with not spending too much on them then... will try farm those materials and stuffs and use them on more important things like slots..
I made the mistake of buying Volt when I started because I thought he was cheap, looked fun, and did not realize how easy it is to farm for most frames. Also bought a companion sentienl because I did not know how easy they were to get. I pretty much regret both purchases now.
Seriously, just buy slots for now or hold onto your platinum until you know more about the game and how to acquire stuff. Then maybe buy one of the frames that I hear are harder to get ( Vauban, Mesa ) or maybe buy a Prime Frame that you really like and some nice cosmetics / colors for it. Or just buy Orokin Reactor/Catalysts for things you have tested and know you actually like.
his stats doesnt seem great tho (i prefer frost with high stats across armor, shield, hp etc)... his skills are that powerful to make him worthwhile?
when u are new with ♥♥♥♥ load of plats (bought 4k plats from the 75% discount voucher).. u like to experiment.. :D i got sick of using Volt over and over again.. he dies real easily after being hit (with lvl 3-4 mods and everything at rank 10).
just tried rank 1 Frost yest (bought him up with pure plats)... lovin' it even at rank 0 he survives and fight longer compare to Volt (even after being hit many times) . Gonna reserve my plats from now on (still got 3k plus plats - bought and unlock slots too as what others suggested).
im a working adult.. married with a baby boy, and currently doing my MBA too. I like playing this game to de-stress. Don't have as much time as others that aren't working, and can grind at the game 6-8 hours a day. The most I'd play is 1-2 times a week 2-3 hours each time. Yeah..
Don't just look at stats while deciding a frame, stats mean nearly nothing in very high levels, abilities are where is it
